Job Confirmation

Just thought i'd ask what you consider to be the best way of confirming a winnng quote and the subsequent full collection and delivery information... Text, email or direct from the mtvan site via whatever device you're using.

As most couriers are on the road when they get an alert of a job, that alert tells them postcode from and too, times and the mileage, thereby making it possible to quote quickly.

Once the quote has been accepted, i'm interested in what couriers want next.

I'm assuming you don't want to pull over, log on to get all the details, then carry on, what you want is something that tells you you've "won" the job (that would be a phoeenecall from the vendor in most cases) and a text? Telling you all you need to know without the need to stop?

Courier Exchange, for those that aren't members, offer the vendor a choice of either a text, an email, or both

Personally i'd like the same option on mtvan

Totally agree with that format

We will be doing something similar. I wonder if the method of delivery should be chosen by the vendor or the courier though? Possibly we should just send a text and an email to be doubly sure.

Can you post some examples of Courier Exchange confirmation text/emails for my reference?

Thanks

Text plus email, like Courier Exchange. Then if I'm at home I can quickly print off the email so I have all the details with me, but for the times I'm already on the road (or if it's urgent and I want to go before it comes through) you still get all the necessary details.

For what's it worth in my opinion a option of email & txt would be the best. If I am on the road I don't want to b pulling over @ logging on, but if at home can print org all details & POD off of mtvan.

Interesting you say that because mine don't, I'd have to log in to see that.

For job confirmation i have to say i prefer the text

On c/x the email only gives you a link to the site so you would have to log in to view it

Would most people by happy with job confirmation by email, if the email contained all the information needed?

Admin - it would also be useful for us if the courier were able to click on a link within the email, to accept the job. No logging in, just one click to accept - which perhaps could put a marker against the job somewhere in the control screen.

We've already established that most want both text and email so they have the choice to read the text if out and about, or print the email if at home

I agree it's best to have both text and email. However, I find that the emails tend to come much later than the text messages. Maybe that process needs to be speeded up a bit?

They should be fast, as fast as the texts. The only delay there might sometimes be is when we're sending alerts for a job and there's 100-200 to go out in a queue. They all go out within a minute or 2 even then though.

Who is your email with? Sometimes adding an address to your safe senders can help. If you can view the message source you might be able to see if (and where) an email is held up. If you can get the message source feel free to email it over to me to decipher if you'd like.

Both text and email, details as per R and R Deliveries, my iPhone is good for both, my iPad is good for emails. PLUS contact names at both ends (not that this would have helped today when the Goods Out contact was "throwing a cob" according to his colleagues and wouldn't come to deal with me until I threw a major hissy fit and cursed him for being a complete liability to his employers and if he didn't want to deal with me I'd phone the Head Office person who had ordered the pickup - I haven't even tempted the swear filter with the actual words I used!).

I always request that the agreed price is shown on the written confirmation as well. Only recently I agreed a price with a job vendor and when he confirmed it by e-mail shortly after, a completely different and significantly lower price was showing so I made him send me another one with the correct price on it.

Get it in writing and check it's correct before you head out. Like they say in the banks ... mistakes cannot be rectified later.
