Hi Guys,

I run a recovery company and the girlfriend sits here trawling the sites for work for me, I mainly use 2 other sites, dont know if i should name them. (shiply & uship) sorry if i offended anyone.

Anyway back to the idea, she will trawl the sites for work for every one under her name "OK".

You can all email her with your locations and routes. Then as and when the jobs get accepted she will contact you with details.

Yes ill get to the whats it cost a £1 of each job.

eg. Job Centrum a to Mall b 150 miles, bid on small box £25 you get £24 she gets a £1.

All payments will be via either bank transfer or paypal, this will depend on the price of each consignment.

So who wants to try it no fee's just the £1 per job.

Also i will give all of our network £25 off if you ever require a car or van transporting. UK & European Recovery.

We are waiting for you replies.Hope we haven't broken any rules.

Thanks

Hi Wayne,

You haven't broken any rules and I don't mind you naming uship and shiply as other sites you use. It's interesting to discus any ideas you or others may have.

I do wonder though if you're trying to re-invent the wheel. You could quote for work on uship at a rate that you're confident that you could sub it out for less than, and then list it on here. I know of many people who work in a way similar to this.

You could get the couriers who you want to work with to list their journeys on here. Give them all trusted status, then you could see where those members are heading to on the member directory? This is after all what the trusted status is there for.

Hi Richard
Thanks, we also just thought once we have our network in place, we could also swap and change jobs from each other, Courier "A" does job A-Z and Courier "B" does job Z-A.

Well they could swap at PQor R and be home for "T". making the same money.

Its going to take time but im sure if the guys are up for it we can get it to work.

I hade over 10 years delivering sameday and overnight so i know how it all operates.

tnt, citylink, dhl they all satrted with ££££ we can start with owner drivers and fly one flag.

Lets see what happens over the next few weeks, it maybe pie in the sky and no net to catch it. But it may also take of like a jet in the next few hours.

Great stuff :)

Wayne, I'm pleased to see enthusiasm for your ideas. The 'trusted' status on mtvan is something that we had a long time ago that was lost during our re-write a few years back.

We plan to expand on it a lot, as it's useful to be able to see who and how many others trust someone. It's a recommendation. Anyway, looks like it could fit into your ideas well too.

Hi Richard,

Sorry to go off topic a bit, but when a member is "trusted" then does it show to other members for instance another member who we trade with on a regular basis i have click "trusted" but where do i keep track of trusted members and i think that any other member who maybe looking to trade with a fellow member should be able to see if they are trusted by others, perhaps this is already the case and i have missed it?? if not maybe good for future use

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike,

Currently this is not the case, but it is our intention. The member profile pages could do with a make over and I think this is likely to be included when I do that. It still has some use though as the member directory list can be narrowed down to your trusted members only, so it helps give you quick access to them.

Hi Looks like we may have hit on the nail with this ?. Its going to take a bit of time, but all the plans are being worked on, Who thinks the idea of swapping loads mid way is a good one.

Sounds like a good idea as long as everyone plays the game!

there is at least one person on here who I can think of who seems to have a dubious payment record and  seems to have CCJ's as long as your arm,I was talking another courier this morning who will be paying this chap a visit if things don't get sorted, this is where the system would fall over!  maybe a payment bond scheme but then it starts to get very complicated!

I would think a phone support to put work on or post a return would make sense as I'm able todo this with you know who (CX!ssssh)

Hi Dave,

I can really see how a phone line must be very useful to you. Unfortunately we're unable to provide a manned phone line. What phone do you use? Perhaps if we invested more time in building a better mobile solution it could go some way to being something that would be just as useful to you?

Richard

P.S. I know some sites get their knickers in a twist, but I have no problem with anyone talking about Courier Exchange on here.

Hi Richard,
I use a blackberry, I have tried an Ipad2 but the lack of flash makes a bit pointless!
maybe a blackberry version of the Ipad maybe in order!?
I have a netbook which I use for surfing all the courier sites in between jobs but I'm too impatient waiting for in to load up when I want to post a job when I'm on a run!! yes a cross between Basil Faulty and Victor Meldrew!!!!
with the amount of smart phones around I would think a 'mobile' version would be a good idea,

Hi Guys,

I am based in north yorkshire close to lancashire border and think this new network could be a breath of fresh air in this very competitive market. With the plethera of exchange websites to bid for work with extortionate fees (shiply uship etc) equivilent of a good gallon of diesel etc. a modest £1 fee is welcoming.

On the subject of mobiles i currently use samsung omnia7 windows phone with gps and a massive full touch screen ideal for "pod" software etc.

Maybe a deeper discussion into a new network is needed and with everyones input and ideas i am sure we could give the "fatcat" websites etc an overdue wake up call.

any ideas???

Hi Mark...

"Maybe a deeper discussion into a new network is needed and with everyones input and ideas i am sure we could give the "fatcat" websites etc an overdue wake up call."

This is essentially how we see mtvan. I feel CX and various large european exchanges charge an extortionate amount, and they're able to do that because of their position in the market. You cannot deny it's pretty monopolised.

The hard part of providing something fairly priced is gaining critical mass to make it really worthwhile. I think mtvan is the most prominent and developed courier work exchange site in the UK behind CX. What do you think? To build critical mass requires enough effort from many couriers and companies and on my part building tools to be used for a sustained period, before things can really take off.

How many guys do you work with? If you want to submit people you currently work with to me I'll gladly hand out free membership and txt credits to help get the/your ball rolling on the site.

Hi,
If you make it super cheap for people to join then you are in danger of getting over run the 'u-ship/shipley brigade!

This is true, springer express! Only the other day on shiply i saw someone bid for a job of some 80miles at an industry destroying 8 quid!!!! Taking the usual extortionate fee off the courier left himself with a mind numbing 80pence!!! Regardless of whether this was doubled or even quadroupled up with other drops this is just surely putting yourself in a noose on a chair with a broken leg is it not! No wonder Genuine folk who just want to  make a decent rate for a decent job cant get forward nowadays.

i would defo be into forminng sum sort of network from  the shropshire and midlands area

With ref to all the posative replies, we are seeking all contact info from everyone if you email 010sqn@gmx.co.uk

If you all keep it simple

Name
Company Name
Trading Address
Post Code
Tel Number / Mobile

We will put a list togeather and Kymm will be able to allocate each job via text will probably be best.

An Example

Collect 23 New Rd, Anywhere, best eta ? (we can advise customer) and maybe a code for each carrier like eg. Simon Chester 23 Jan 12 4.30pm

Quick Simple easy, if you all get the text all reply and we can advise with reply, who came back with best advise.

simple reply

Dave Wrexham

See how it goes and we can try a few test's using this simple method.

Ok guys & Girls

We are waiting on you now, if you want it to work we need the info's.
