I was just looking on the directory and noticed less than 900 members. I'm sure when I first joined there was at least 2500 members. So where have have they all gone?

mtvan.com Ltd

As I have said on here recently, we have been doing a huge job to edit the membership for quality not quantity, amongst the members visible on the directory.

Also for a while now it's been much harder to join mtvan.

Which is exactly the right way to go. Exchange sites are only ever going to be as good as the quality of members on it. Far too many with all singing all dancing software forget what it is they're seling to us all, and that is quality work from bonafide vendors, being carried out by quality drivers who know what they're doing.

That is the way forward. As with many things British, mass production is not what we're good at, bespoke is

Looking at some of the people joining over the last few weeks it's quantity again not quality.

Who mentioned anything about Pro?

That guy who asked how much he should charge is a PRO.. So clearly there should be some kind of filter that only allows drivers with experience and basic business sense to join. Maybe an entrance exam like they do at Cambridge university.

Q.1 can you drive

Q.2 have you a British passport?

Q. 3 can you work a tom-tom sat nav system?

Great! You can join mtvan as a pro and all the current members will set you up with your contacts and business plan

Good idea, but a lot of people will struggle.

Unfortunately your profile still shows No Valid GIT

You're unlikely to see any work from here unless you change that

It would be better for people to address questions about starting up to Codforum rather than on a working site. Perhaps admin could offer that advice to people looking for answers to very basic questions, that is what Codforum is for. They don't need to pay to come here to be told off.

I agree I done most of my research with information from cod, I don't think you should be asking question on how much to charge once you have joined a trade site and purchased a van, you should know this some time ago before you start.

Yeah, but question 2 is wrong. It SHOULD be Q.2 Have you a passport?

I done 6 months research before I got started doing the sameday stuff. I always thought that research was a key factor before you start any business. I myself do get people asking what they should charge, but to be fair I remember a time when I wasn't too sure for trade rates. I think you just need to do your calculations and just go with it. Obviously there is some risk, but life is full of risks. Right now I have built a good selections of vendors that use me regular, but I also have my own customers. I takes hard work but if you put your mind to it, it can be very beneficial

I'm new to this site but as some of you already know I've done top quality work in my brand new mercedes benz luton with taillift so I'm not sure who that comment about quantity was aimed at and east Lancs is one of the best I've dealt with along with 3d couriers there the best IMO. :-)
