Just in time for Bank Holiday!

Just had an email from Eurotunnel

Dear Customer,

We would like to inform you that strike action by French Port officials is planned for 24 hours as of tomorrow 28/03/2013 at 08h00 CET until Friday 29/03/2013 at 08h00 CET at all French Ports. This strike action does not involve Eurotunnel and we are planning additional capacity in order to try and absorb the additional volume anticipated.

The Authorities will be implementing "Operation Stack"/"Plan Respiration" which will reglement the flow of traffic on the motorways in order to maintain all access routes to the Tunnel open. We would however advise that you try and re-route your traffic via the South (Boulogne sur Mer) on the A16 motorway.

We inform you that we have activated our capacity protection measures in order to ensure that our regular customers may cross in the best conditions possible.

We will of course continue to keep you advised as the situation evolves.

Bad luck anyone having to go tonight or tomorrow! It will as usual be chaos

Freight is fine this evening, no que to check in, and boarded a train within 45 mins of check in, Not too bad considering what it has been like lately, (partly due to the weather obviously)

A lot of it wasn't the weather but due to someone with no sense giving the go ahead to cut the roofs off of the freight carriages and scrapping them to save money. This has caused queues and delays due to not being able to put sheeted vehicles onto certain trains and it has meant delays for freight.

Just heard on news that the Industrial action has been called off!

I heard they are now welding the roofs back on. You can see lots of roofless carriages parked up, waiting a re weld, as the train pops out of the tunnel in France

I was told they went back to the scrap dealer cap in hand begging for the roofs back but they had already been processed so it's going to have to be all replaced with new.

Some top money saving idea that was. :D
