Having been a member of the Despatch Association for a very high number of years. I am a bit concerned about the absence of any communication from this organisation other than the annual membership subscription invoice which is sent but no receipt acknowledged when invoice is paid.

Members used to receive a magazine on a regular bi-monthly basis but since the death of the previous secretary a few years ago the magazine has never been published.

Attempted contact by phone or letter has been fruitless, even the website seemed plaudable.

Would any mtvan member who has had contact with the Despatch Association in the last few years please share their experience?

I realise this is an old thread but some more info about the Despatch Association from June this year:

The National Courier & Despatch Association said:

We are delighted to announce that after numerous discussions and a recent committee meeting The National Courier Association and The Despatch Association have agreed in principal to a merger of the two Associations.

Any other mtvan members also a member of the NCDA (NCA/DA)?

As neither has done anything for our industry, the fact that they are merging (in principal) into whatever it is they decide to call themselves, doesn't instill me with great confidence of there being any future inroads over the many issues confronting us all today.

A missed opportunity

I had read somewhere that the two aforementioned associations were going into the same stable but that was it. I also noticed that some members of the DA soon became officials in the NCA thus deserting the DA.
