New posh fuel from Shell.

Anyone tried it? Can you tell any difference from the old V-Power, or is this just a marketing gimmick? (Instinct tells me it's probably both.)

Yes I actually used it last week, and no different felt to v power.

As in many discussions before though, there is a major difference when using Premium fuels to regular.

Yes, but only if you have a modern engine which can take advantage of the fuel's benefits. Apparently there's no point putting it in an old engine, and I don't know if my 2003 Ford Duratec engine is advanced enough to benefit from it.

If anyone could answer question too I'd be grateful.

Well the oldest I use it in is a 3 yr old van.

Why not try it?

Or, use some MINERAL 2 stroke oil about 200ml to a tankfull. Try it, [loads of info on internet too] Do not use synthetic 2 stroke oil though.

A colleague has an old [2001 I think] Sprinter, he uses it on occasions and has found it improves MPG and makes the engine more responsive and quieter. I drive my 3 yr old Combo hard, and it avg 40 mpg, but after a few tanks with 2 stroke added I actually for the 1st time since it was new achieved 45 mpg!

Try it, many have and it works!

I was sceptical, but the only way is to give it a go!

Have to use v power petrol in the car, usually 10p per litre ish more expensive but as for the vans i'm not sure. May give it a try one day and see what the results are, think it will be a fine line between the extra expense of the v power compared to the extra mpg. Will watch this thread with interest.

Wow, never heard of using mineral 2 stroke before! Gonna look that up...

I've put the old V-power in once or twice, and in a 1999 diesel Focus (Endura), and I think there was a difference, but hard to tell really. Might have been placebo.

Maybe BP should develop a new fuel and call it Ultimate Placebo+

It will be exactly the same but with different detergents! In fact if it has more detergents which the blurb about it seemed to say then it will probably burn less efficiently!
