I know we won't be. I wouldn't use Supermarket fuel [unless no better option] even if it was 20p cheaper!

It's ALL been said before, lots of info available as to it's negative effects!

I'm Still not convinced on the supermarket fuel theories. We use both and to be honest there isn't any noticeable difference in economy or performance. We used supermarket fuel in our old berlingo's which when we disposed of them is was because of their age and not engine problems, One even had one with 235,000 and was in good serviceable condition, It never even needed a new clutch, Just a few sets of discs and pads.

I have just read on a fuel forum that people who believe that supermarket fuels are cheaper rubbish also believe

that weatherspoons beer is inferior as it is old stock.

It's a myth!

1 of my subbies is on his 3rd combo in the 10 years he has been here 1st one 2001 model 330.000 miles 2nd one 2004 model 295.000 miles 3rd one 09 model on 100.000 miles and he only as ever put ADSA fuel in any of them. So it sure is a myth

Its essentially £5 off a £60 shop... If your an internet shopper you can get that with a voucher code and even cashback through quidco... Or alternatively get your shopping from aldi and yur £60 shopping will cost you more like £40

A sprat to catch a mackerel

If you get an asda credit card you get money off your fuel anyway.

Esso are expanding their network and taking over some of the old Total sites and offering a Platts Plus price to those who fit their criteria.

I normally use shell or bp, my last 2 tanks of diesel have been from Sainsburys and the performance is slightly less and The mpg is about 10% less, I won't be using it again that's my findings,

Typical! Pity I never knew about that yesterday, just took delivery of 3,800 ltr at Gravesend. Might have had a problem getting into a garage forecourt though.

we put nothing but shell or bp in ours. The difference has been tested on several of the vans doing the same runs and is a noticeable difference for us.

Its Shell or BP for us

I too have tested extensively and I agree the difference is noticeable.

There is a mine of information on the internet about poor supermarket fuel, one only has to look.. For me using premium fuel, the engines run better and are more fuel efficient, if someone else wishes to penny pinch, that's their prerogative, all I would say is read up and better still give premium fuels a THOROUGH test.

I'd sooner pack it all in if I had to worry about saving a few pence on fuel, one only has to look at the subbies running for some of the 'big boys, pottering around at 50 mph on motorways trying to save a few bob. NOT for me I am afraid

I was once told by an AA mechanic that the AA had done their own survey into which fuels gave the best mpg, and concluded that there was not a significant difference in mpg between supermarket fuel and Shell etc. I still buy cheap Shell when i see it though.
