I am currently bidding on 6 items of which 3 i am the lowest bidder and have been for nearly 2 weeks !! Are people posting items on this site just for a laugh? Has anyone here been contacted by a vendor after submitting a bid? Why are there no guide dates for pick-up and delivery?

1383Haven't used delivery supermarket, but I've found the same problem with uship, shiply and anyvan, which I believe are similar. I must have spent literally days, bidding on dozens of items, and only ever got ONE job (which worked out at about 45pplm in a transit).
Even if you do submit the cheapest bid, and that can be bloody cheap, they never accept it! I've decided not to waste any more time with them. I guess some people must find these sites useful, but I'm not prepared to spend all day in the office chasing jobs that barely cover my fuel... and then have my bids ignored!
OP, I sympathise.

2596[name] Ive wasted time quoting on those 3 as well . I thought DS was different though as its obviously linked to this site and ive seen admin recommend on more than one occasion . There is no way of knowing when you will ever "win a bid" when that bid ends or even how to message the vendor direct . Have i missed something?

5839As with all these things, getting the 1st feedback is the hardest. Once you've got a few people saying that all went ok then it ought to be easier to pick up work. Obviously it also comes down to you as to whether this kind of work fits in with your routine.
There are sometimes guide dates, but not if the shipper has decided they can be flexible. You should bid along with a suggestion for timing.

2596The issue is not with feedback ,but the frustration of not knowing when /why/if you will ever get a response to your quote. As i said earlier i have lowest quotes still active which were posted on the 24th september and as far as i know the goods are still awaiting transportation .[name] feedback was last left in march - i guess he hasnt had much work since then either

Actually, in September. The feedback is in the incorrect order (something I need to fix).

5839I would suggest you drop on there when you have 5 minutes from time to time and quote on anything that looks appealing and move on. Seems to be how [name] works. When a shipper accepts him then he arranges pickup and delivery times. 99% of this stuff is looking for a courier because it's awkward or fragile, not because it's time sensitive.

Unfortunately you're not.
DS is quite a recent project and it's on my todo list. Thanks for trying it though.

10314I think many vendors have absolutely no idea what to expect re costs, so being the cheapest you may well be, but to the vendor it'll still be expensive so won't be accepted It's wot i commonly call a time waster, or one of the Stupid brigade
"How much for a job from Stansted to Lincolnshire" says she
£90 + vat says I....
"But it only cost me a tenner to get it to Stansted from Brighton" says she
"Well that's because you used an overnight carrier not a sameday courier" says i
"You can't do it for a tenner then?" says she
"No, we're a sameday courier, a dedicated driver, he picks it up, he drops it off"
"So how come they did it for a tenner?"
By this time you start losing the will to live but explain the difference between an overnight and a sameday...hubs multi droppers etc etc, possibility of goods getting lost, stolen or damaged blah blah blah She then asks who i would suggest, to which I ask "When would it be for", to which she replies "4am on Saturday and I need it by 12"
So you may well be quoting the cheapest but you're not necessarily dealing with lifeforms you and I are used to

778i've used delivery supermarket once to get a over sized ebay item covered & once the right price was received i'd contacted the company who was gonna carry out the job for me gave them all the details & got it covered. found it much better than shilply & would use again should i need to for another ebay item, the thing with sites like d.s the guys who use have a stack of deliveries to do & route

2148lets face it if you involve fleebay customers in your business then you are just asking for trouble and calls for quotes at 10pm on a Sunday because they are bidding!! if you want to work for peanuts with unrealistic time scales there are many companies out there with 'sprint' or 'royal'or 'odel' etc etc in their name who would abuse you whilst renting you their uniform and magnetic signs!
Problem with these sites I find as well is often they post their job on a few if not all of them at the same time.
