Just had another idea of for a new way of approaching this business. Another opportunity for you to tell me why I'm wrong...! ;)

For most businesses, same day delivery is an expensive fall-back option which they want to minimise as much as possible. In other areas of life we take out insurances to mitigate against risks (breakdown cover, home insurance etc etc) - so why couldn't businesses take out same-day delivery insurance cover?

Profitability would of course depend on the nature and size of their business, and the amount you can persuade them to pay monthly.

Hmm Insurance policy.

If you need a fat dog as a mascot like churchill insurance.

You're not quite right in what you say... Most Businesses don't budget for sameday work cos most don't anticipate cock ups BUT it's not always about cock ups, sometimes it's about cost

If you have a particularly heavy consignment it is often cheaper to use a same dayer than an overnight service

Here's an example for you

Lets look at CM24 to CB2

I have a pallet weighing 400 kilos, my overnighter charges me £8.50 for the 1st 30 kilos and 30p per kilo thereafter, so thats £119.50

Cambridge from Stansted is gonna set him back anything from £40-£50 ish so he's saving AND he knows it isn't going to get lost, stolen or damaged

At that rate he could just about get from me to you and if you have 3 pallets your sphere of sameday costs v overnight is even bigger

Overnighters have their place BUT if my goods are fragile, or high value then its a dedicated "Sameday" Courier everytime
