Browser Performance

For quite a while any WebKit based browser (Chrome, Safari, but specifically Chrome) seemed to have a huge performance advantage over anything else I tried. Nothing could touch Chrome for Javascript performance. Now I'm developing some fairly Javascript heavy stuff (webapps) for mtvan and I'm finding (on a Mac) that Firefox definitely has the lead over Chrome. Not long ago Firefox seemed to be a bit of a bloated pig that crashed too regularly.

This might not be the case on Windows. For anyone that takes an interest in this stuff, how do you find they compare?

For me Firefox has always been No1 with windows and never had problems, Ive never used IE that comes with any setup, and found chrome very slow with a fair bit of memory usage and on the odd occasion interferes/conflicts with Javascript and usually freezes, as for the others never used them and dont wish to..

Sometimes when her indoors downloads software for new gadgets purchased, and you get the magic box to untick that says about adding some other web browser blah blah, she never ticks it, so when I see it on firefox I have to remove it completely from the system, as these browser have a big memory usage and cause allsorts of running problems.

Do you mean browser toolbars? If so you're right, and there's very few that are worthwhile.

Never had any problems with Chrome.

Regarding mobile devices, I'm finding my Android is becoming increasingly stubborn on the Courier Forum page. It doesn't open a thread when I click on it...

I use IE, Firefox and Chrome, I find the varied results informative when working on SEO. I do tend to favour Chrome for daily browsing. However, when logged in to Mtvan on any of the three browsers, I find the courier forum button has moved from the main menu bar to the sub menu bar and hides behind courier work and post empty making it inaccessible.

I have to open a thread on the news feed to reveal the Forum button then into the Forum through the back door! Any one else have this problem or is my pc the problem? BTW its the same on all 3 browsers even after I have cleared the history.

If it is of any value, I use mainly a laptop with UNIX OS, as I dislike windows [after they released 7] I have tried both Chrome & Firefox and they both seem about the same in terms of performance. I did try Opera, which I used on Windows, and it is definitely faster and more user friendly. Only trouble with Opera in Unix, is some add ons, do not work.

I use IE Chrome and Firefox. I tried to remove IE [even tried following instructions] but I cant get the damn thing off.
