Have been going through the 'Compare the Meerkats' to find a decent one but came to a grinding halt on which to choose. Who is the best etc? Thanks

Never had to use one, been a member of the AA for twenty years they are a bit more expensive, but just hope they provide a decentish service, if I ever do have to use them, I would say find a decent price one that covers your vehicle, and hope they are ok if you ever need them, my dad was with National Breackdown, he used them twice over the years and said they where great, they advertise cover from £40 for Vans.

Just signed up for the max packet the AA offer including paying for the garage repairs ( or part of them if over £465.00 or up to £1500 per year). Would prefer to pay £17 a month than get lumbered with a bill that would cost many many times more if things went skewiff. And if I don't use them then I bought a decent motor. Do I get me badge to screw on the radiator grill ?

Do the AA cover for commercial vehicles?

We are with National Breakdown (European Cover) full assistance and onward travel about £90 each van. Worth checking it is commercial cover!

AA asked for the reg. no. and it came up with the right vehicle so reckon they do, unless somewhere in the small print they exclude you but keep taking your money while hoping you don't notice (or break down) !

Yes the AA cover commercials. Been with them for years. I've broken down few times and got to say they were brilliant.

Just a thought Moray. What van did you get? I've got a berlingo with 4 years free AA membership and I'm pretty sure it carries over to the next owner if I were to sell it so may apply to you buying second hand.

I ended getting another van Ford Connect L220D as the first one I bought 05 Kangoo I thought wasn't big enough, the Connect came off a builder who had gone bust bought through a dealer. Might sell on the Kangoo after the engine recon is completed or just keep it as a spare, even if I decide to re-engine it the total cost will only be about £1100 for the whole van so there's still a bit of profit in it. I've emailed the AA for confirmation of commercial van cover. Rgds Ray

When I had my berlingo, I asked a few AA bods over the years and they said that they covered comm vehicles upto 3.5 ton that was a few years ago, if your worried about breaking down, then go and buy a 62 reg VW Caddy.
