Dear Our Valued Transporters,

We hope you all had a great break. Happy New Year!

Thank you for your hard work last year and we all look forward to a great year coming up with an increase in the number of listings available for you.

There have been quite a few complaints from both transport providers and customers regarding a few different issues so we would like to bring these to your attention and request that you please cooperate with us in making Anyvan a fair marketplace for all.

Please adhere to the following:

Please do not discuss, abuse or disadvantage any other company that is bidding on the website. Please only use the messaging facility to sell yourself / your service. This is extremely important.

If you discuss a price within a message you must formally place a bid so the user can accept your price. Too many times companies are discussing prices but not placing the bid.

Any transport provider, who enters contact details, bypasses the website or does not bid the full price for the job will be suspended until the deposit is paid with a £10 admin fee on top.

Please refrain from rude / abusive comments to customers. We are repeatedly receiving complaints about this and this will result in account suspension.

If a customer is being unrealistic with their budget please disregard their listing, or offer polite, helpful, feedback. We are losing customers due to offensive remarks and this reflects poorly on us.

Communication is KEY. Please communicate with customers at all times – even if the job is listed as “flexible”. If you have a problem please inform Anyvan and the customer as soon as possible. Dodging phone calls will inevitably earn you negative feedback.

On the whole the site is being used responsibly but a few ruin it for the others. Please help us in making Anyvan a pleasant experience for all users.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me. Have a great weekend and thank you for continually using our serivces. Best wishes,

Layla

The point I found interesting is the reports of abuse that so called couriers were giving to customers. Hopefully its the start of the decline of sites like these.

I think the issue of fees/deposits and rudeness may be linked.

Rudeness is a bad thing under any circumstances, especially to a customer, but may be partly as a result of an already low-priced job being further reduced in price by the fees taken off it by the website?

Im a firm believer of "You get what you pay for" pay peanuts you get monkeys... :-)

Does anyone make any money from these sites? I saw a couple of ads for near my area on Freight Alerts so considered paying £60 + vat for what? Eventually I paid but now consider I have literally thrown that money away as since that time nothing, nada, zilch, zero. I would have got more value for money, pleasure on going to the pub and suffering a bad hangover afterwards.

Next time you want to spend £60+ in the pub Moray myself and no doubt a few others in here would gladly help you [just help you avoid the bad hangover you understand]

No problem with that as I would rather stand the rounds myself all night, at least then we would all get something out of it. BTW who's this Moray bloke? My names Ray (innit)

I'm afraid you are well off the mark there as it goes from strength to strength, last week I counted over 50 pallets for Sameday delivery on there. More and more businesses are now using the site and in the future it will be the main site for Sameday work.

There is no point being abusive to customers just because they want the best price they can get. Imagine if electric/gas suppliers or insurance companies were abusive to us, simply because we shopped around and compared prices?

Anyvan is right, if you can't offer the price a customer wants, then just politely ignore it and move on to the next one.

Yes and in 12 months many courier companies and end users will be posting their work on there, believe me it is happening already.

Anyvan and Shiply is where AET got work from to fleece Couriers from this site. I have had calls from people saying they had booked a "Courier" to move an item and they turned up in a rough looking car with a trailer on tow. Unfortunately with this low cost usually comes the service that goes hand in hand. Not all but alot of cowboys out there without the correct cover.

Have done a couple for Shiply and ended up arguing with the collection point because they thought that the "Deposit" would come out of our agreed price even though the email stated clearly what he had to pay us. Did have one good experience but then used a guy with a "sprinter" to collect a 40kg box from Glasgow to Yorkshire - The "sprinter" was in fact an 15 year old Landcruiser and flat trailer - he did have straps & sheets though, never again.

The difference being in the future they will have to show all insurances /vehicles etc to be accredited as it will be separate from all the general stuff, it will blow all the opposition away.

I average about 30 jobs per week off those two sites and have never encountered anything like you are suggesting in the last 5 years of using them.
