When your phone makes a recurring noise, it means it's ringing and you should press the green button if a mobile or lift the handset if a landline.

Screamer of a job out of my area, 300+ miles of high paid goodness, called the 5 couriers nearest.

I always answer my phone the only time I don't answer is when I'm on holiday in which case my phone is turned off or people's numbers are blocked.

I always think the same when i come across these threads and its how can so many people out there choose as there go to guys so badly? I mean its courier 101, answer the phone to youre advantage, ignore at youre peril. That burrrrrding burrrrding means work means bills get sorted etc etc. But its also courier 101.1 that you spend the time calling the right people in the first instance , the people who will take on work at a moments notice or are there to get you out of the mire. People you can rely on to mop up when needed and know whats expected. Have a looksee here and take names and numbers, these are the good people.

I answered my phone one day earlier this week - Royal Mail Sameday enquiring about my availability to do a job. I was in Greece on holiday and had told them and been assured I had been put on the holiday list. Maybe they just rang to cost me the price of receiving a call abroad?

But I answer my phone whenever it rings.

Surely if you have a missed call on your phone, then you should call them back. This is the problem with some drivers, then later they are moaning because they havn't been very busy. Answer your phone then maybe you will be out on the road more

Couldn't sgree more Darren, also it's just manners to answer your phone snd politely decline if you're busy. That's one of the reasons I get slightly fed up with this site (and others). Guys moan about no work, when you offer work they have any number of excuses: Oh! footie is on tonight or don't fancy London today. I ALWAYS answer Damien! If I can help next time ring me!

You are dead right Darren.

Have tried calling several 'so called' 24/7 couriers, and their phone is either switched off or diverts to ansaphone.

It amazes me that they do not return the call. Not a professional way to run a business!

this courier always either answers the call or responds to missed calls or messages left on my answer service (ask Chris at CPL... Lol ) it would be be manners not to even to let people know you're busy. Not today guys though as i am sat on rooftop terrace with a cold beer in Barcelona... lol

Today missed a call while taking a call. Couple of minutes later i remembered and called the person back to find out it was the person i was talking too when it came in, confused? You should have heard the convo we had along the lines if you called me no you called me, but we already spoke then what was you after the second time etc etc

Bloody EE for you
