Thatcher lover?

Thatcher set the economic agenda that has led to the present economic disaster. Contrary to popular belief there was greater economic growth in the 60's and 70's than during the 80's and 90's, 3.6% to 1.9%.

She destroyed the industrial infrastructure of the UK in favour of financial institutions and the service industry. The problem with that is there are not too many services you can export and with little to no investment in manufacturing, we don't really make anything here any more. What industry we do have are merely assembly plants for foreign parts. The largest manufacturing company in the UK now is Tata, an Indian company. 

A nation can only earn money for investment and to pay the bills if you export goods and since the 80s we have been doing that less and less. We have been in deficit since 1986. In 2007 we exported £27 billion worth of services, we had a deficit of £68 billion in manufacturing goods.

What has fueled the apparent prosperity since her day is the fact that property prices were rising and we have borrowed money against it, It was not paid for in increased productivity, which has fallen since the 70s. She has set the stage for us to become a 3rd rate country.

Nowadays its all soundbites and squirming to find an opinion that fits to get into power. Today I believe this...oh no that does not work.......tomorrow I will believe that

Personally I don't think anyone should be in parliament unless they have held a proper job and not just gone from a privileged schooling to some non-job in the city then politics. Have SOME grip on what reality is like for the majority of people.

And no-one should be prime minister unless they had served in the armed forces, then maybe sending our young men and women to fight a war might have more meaning than a signature on a piece of paper and a political stage for their own career.

Im sorry, But I thought everyone is entitled to their OWN opinion, well tough if you dont like it, but this is mine and a few million other Scots too.

I couldnt care less about politics, however I am entitled to my opinion and for Thatcher its not a very good one, we didnt vote for her same as we didnt vote for the present Con/dem farce who are in charge just now, its been forced on us, but there I go again, making comments on politics.

Good for you, thats the point of living in this country, we are all entitled to our opinions, me and a few million other people.

On the day of Thatcher's eventual demise, and by way of celebration, I would love to see the "Ding Dong! The witch is dead" scene from the 'Wizard of Oz' film broadcast on all channels.

Would be one of the highest viewed programmes on tv for quite a while.... lol
