Has anyone noticed the amount of 40tonne xmas trees going up and down the motorways lately?

Cabs lit with an assortment of coloured and flashing lights... Surely they cant be legal? Can they?

Com'on James you party poooper...

Get into the spirit of the festivities ... Ive still got one of the old ones that uses the old fashioned fairy lights. And I decorate the cab with pretty tinsell.

Last year I invested a whole pound coin in a new christmas tree with a USB connection for the van .. But ended up giving it to one of the girls in the office for her computer... as it flashed an assortment of colours but had a preference for BLUE most of the time...

SO COM'ON James

Christmas is for people who believe in jesus Religion etc, I don't believe in either so why get excited about something that somebody has made up, its good for retailers that's about it.

Do I care what anyone thinks? Come on Les, you have known me for years now!

Serious now, when daughter was a youngster, Christmas was a special time, now I hate it, as much as I did before she was born! Always treading on ice, who NOT to upset as in should we be with my parents or hers! etc

Happy Christmas everyone :)

I don't think Mr G wasn't specificly talking about christmas trees more the illuminations on the wagons if you ask me they look like an Amsterdams tarts bedroom (not that I've ever seen one) I looked in my side mirror at a wagon the other day in the dark, it was so bright I couldnt see that well past itto pull out

Think your being killjoys, some of these drivers spend a lot of time and effort on their trucks to keep them looking A1 and to stand out from all the rest, a lot of them enter their vehicles into truckfest and other truck shows so bigger and brighter is better, i personally would like my goods being delivered in a vehicle that somebody takes care of and looks after than some old rusty wreck that the driver doesnt care about. If a driver looks after his vehicle he will also look after the goods he is carrying and they were the words of a local vosa operative that i chatted to last week, he reckons that even if your vehicle is brand new but really dirty and generally not looked after they will pull you all day long rather than pull an older vehicle that is well looked after and clean, vosas outlook on it is that if people dont look after their vehicles and keep them clean etc then they aint arsed about what their carrying and how they handle the goods

Lee my original point was ..Are these vehicles legal? If a boy racer put flashing blue lights at the front of his car he would be pulled and cautioned would he not? Tell me how a large cab covered in fairy lights is not a distraction to other road users?

I agree with Lee @ Bennett and Lee @ LWS .... Your all Killjoys, so bah humbug to you's Kill joys

And com'mon James

Your stretching it now... Boy racer with Blue flashing lights.. To a brightly lit vehicle going down the road. We all should know Blue flashing and Red flashing lights are a NO NO A well lit vehicle is easier to spot in the rain and fog... Rather than the muppet who runs with only side lights. A well lit vehicle can be seen at a greater distance at night than the muppet with just his side lights on. I think your just jealous James cos you cant make your van look like the coka cola truck seen again in adverts in time for CHRISTMAS...

RLT

My 3 year old grandaughter loves the sparkle off the the tinsel as we drive along the illuminated roads she thinks its flashing, and obviously isn't old enuff to realise its just a reflection off the street lighting.

Grab yourself a kid...( Make sure you as permission from its owner first) and get back into chrimbo mode

Im sure if there was a vehicle overtaking the well lit truck with head lights on you would of spotted it. It reminds me of the same scenario where you want to change lanes or overtake but you can see to well cos you have the sun in your rear view mirrors.

James on reflection it might be to late for you..You should close your eyes and wait till its all over

You were there were you? The problem is when you make any maneuvers you have to be 100% sure imagine if I had an accident and then tried to blame the wagon lights

Ha ha ha yeah some of the lights are a tad bright but if you cant beat them join them, you want to see my sprinter, lights all over front and back lol

The wagon was travelling at approx 50mph a motorbike may well have been travelling at 70-80 mph overtaking it, I need to make sure not to guess, fairy lights on trucks are unnecessary and should be banned

Im not a kiljoy but what do you mean silly season has arrived MRG? these trucks are on the road all year round, mind you some nicer than others, but I dont mind the decorative trucks, now the vans that Ive seen that try to copy these trucks with their diy lights look crap, but what does annoy and can be dangerous are all these new fangled headlights with HID, especially if the the aim is to high or they are towing and not adjusted the beam correctly.
