As a new !!!! member of this web site i am finding it very frustrating.

  1. All that new members get is sarcasum from those in the clique.
  2. post,s that have no relevance to the business that we are in / question are you playing at this or are you in business
  3. Constructive critisisum no sarcasum? oh the clique rears its head again !!
  4. When posting for work if you dont have a rateing of around 50000 plus no work will come your way(clique)
  5. Listed looking for help not to get the job done for free but help from fellow members as running out of the uk on proper work get your post pulled (not in the clique)
  6. constant emails for non existant work .

i have been in this game for over 30 years and have moved goods and products to the value of over 50,000,000 yes ! 50 million in one shipment , and have never come across a more amatureish way of working in my whole career !!!! call this a profesional site !

refund please !

Has someone upset you? I'm afraid that's the way forums go.

Hi Terry

I'm really sorry you're frustrated, and I agree with many of your points.

I agree that new members should be treated with more respect. We all have to start somewhere.

We do try to moderate the forum as little as possible, though many say we're too harsh. Most of our moderating is about deleting rudeness.

We welcome constructive criticism, both about mtvan and the industry in general. We do tend to moderate comments which are not constructive, or which are personal or rude, or which people ask us to remove.

We didn't pull your thread, we closed it (after you had got a result, which is great), asking you to post work on the courier work system rather than use the forum. That way everyone knows where to look. I apologise if that seemed heavy handed.

mtvan does work, for trading courier work, but as someone with your experience will know, sometimes when you're new it does take a while to get a name for yourself so people will trust you with their customers' goods. That's true of all sites.

I very much hope you will stay on mtvan to get the benefits it can bring your business. You are just the kind of member we need here.

All the best

Tim

Hi Terry As a fairly new courier I just take it all in my stride as we dont live in a perfect world. Its safer in forums than out on the road. Dont get disheartened too soon its OK in ere might not seem professional but its a change from the rest. Hope to see more input from you in the future :-) as your experience and professionalism would be an asset.

Thought GIT only went up to £12m per vehicle (might be wrong), with ours anything over £12m has to be split on 2 vehicles

Points to be addressed

Yes normal G. I. T is around 12m approach your company for an extra policy for goods over the value of this amount As in the case of pharmaceuticals, and other high value goods ( will also need a two man escort as was the case ),

As in the rest of my comments, no one "upset" me I just find it frustrating that the amount of discussion's about what was eaten for breakfast takes more presidency over work related issues

My post that I resolved myself via another avenue cost me £150.00 if I had of had any quotes of this site I would of gone with it but not one quote or even reply to the position was entered,

My work mainly takes me out of the u. K and is predominantly hot shot so decisions have to be made immediately, as this week covering over 4,000 miles in one round trip,

As for a good name for ones self. Yes I agree it takes a while for you to build up a rapport and name with other traders and users of this site, as before I have been at this game for over 30 years am not " a newbie " have moved everything from F1 CARS AND EQUIPTMENT , a bucket of mud , pharmaceutical's (with escort) and explosives, radioactive goods, etc
It would have shown in my post If we stick to safe and safer how are the "newbies " ever going to get that rapport with other needy couriers ,

they will never progress, i my self am fortunate that I don't have to rely on sites for my work, but use it as a top up for me to enjoy that extra van payment or sandwich on the motorway

I hope that this clears a few points Regards Terry

Its a 'forum' so is NOT all about work related stuff.

It is a good thing to have some banter!

Terry if you join in with the "breakfast talk " you will endear yourself quicker than talking about what you moved last week or what traffic jam you got stuck in yesterday.

Think about the forum as a place to unwind... A bit like your local pub.

I fully agree with your comment that was the point I was making, I see and hear enough diesel B. S at Dover so Maybe I should be more clearer

Courier needs help not a freebee, breakfast talk 100+ reply's Courier needs help o reply's

Thank you

I had to use the builder who was working on my house to do a collection of my own goods!

Because of this it stopped the work on the house and so in a nut shell it was easier to get the builder to do a collection than it was to get a fellow courier to do a job,

Therefor the cost was more than double by the time I take into account that the work that should have been done Have been done didn't get done and the loss of time etc. Plus the fuel in total more near the £200.00 mark hence the frustration

If it was a case of c. O. D no problem Or even c. U. F again no problem, I understand fully we all have to build up a credit rating everywhere A sod off would of even been acceptable but not even that! Regards Terry

Terry your request would have fell on deaf ears because most members would have been on the road doing a job and not seen your post until they next logged on.

The forum is like a pub ..sometimes you go sometimes you don't..sometimes you stay all day sometimes you don't post for weeks. did you post your job on the courier work feed? Cos that's where all the alerts for jobs come from

Most (but not all) people on mtvan are here to escape from sites offering furniture deliveries :)

You did get one online bid, by the way.

And just for the record the job today was completed by a site that steers away from "furniture delivery, s" of which the driver was extreemly happy to collect my goods that were not furniture and deliver to my home address, which is also my business address ,

2nd point The bid came after i posted that my builder had gone to collect the goods and not prior ,

That my freinds is the last word that i will be posting on the subject and will not enter into further conversation on the matter ,

Best regards Terry
