Sick of all the crap on here re: 'bloke who wont pay' and 'Expert' business plans.

So I thought it good to discuss something unrelated.

Am I alone in thinking that our GB Athletes should NOT be paid the huge sums of money they currently get?

I researched it and the top ones get between £30 - £60k per annum. PLUS their own sponsorship!

I think, that if they do not finish any race on the podium they should be made to pay EVERY penny back that they have received!
In reality though they should get NOTHING and get a job like the rest of us, and train in their own time after work!

Some lesser sports [motor sport in particular] competitors have to PAY out of their own pocket just to compete! I sponsored my brother who races motorbikes at Aberdare Park last weekend, and apart from the other costs the entry fee alone was over £100 plus £20 for each 6 lap race!

Why do the BBC and government just assume that everyone only likes Darts, snooker, golf and 'cheating' athletics?

I love snooker, just hearing that background grunt and balls knocking whilst knockin the Zeds out, cant beat it.. Anyway as for the rest of the mentioned, I cannot comment nor follow sport much unless its motorsport, use to like wrestling on a saturday round at me nans..

Was mainly the amount they get paid for pursuing what is after all a 'hobby'

I guess fair enough IF they deliver success, but if not...

Considering GB athletes are supposed to be amateurs i think they take the P/$$ too. Ok with sponsorship money, cos only the best will get it. Same with MP's, they shouldn't be paid either, as most have a job anyway, Not paying athletes and MP's would only attract dedicated people. Anyone getting paid who shouldn't be?? Royal family, vicars, the list is endless...

The world has been the same for centuries, all we do is invent other ways to scam, con and take the p*** out of our neighbours in a slightly more clever way than we did in the past. And those that have "made it" make damn sure there's a lot of space between them and the rest of us, for the time that they're found out, so we won't be able to get near them.

Its called Capitalism and its there for the rich to make themselves richer, and the rest of us to wonder how they got away with it
