The majority of current text alerts seem to be coming from our friends at Presto Despatch . Sometimes i receive between 6 and a dozen daily .. these obviously cant be covered by their own drivers so they end up on mtvan

Great to hear business is good presto but maybe you should think about hiring some more drivers?

Shouldn't worry about it Mr G - they post duplicate jobs on CX and Shed 5 all the time.

Isn't that the whole point of having an exchange site like this? At least their jobs are more than 2 miles for cars.

They dont need to hire new drivers they just need to give me some of the work. Not one job accepted yet, maybe I am too cheap.

I've quoted several times on their job when "opp norf" priced as backloads not a sniff, but when I offered a backload for one of their returning vans I was quoted marginally less than sending one of my own subbies up, so I went with the driver I know.

I go to Aberdeen sometimes 3 times a week, either in lwb transit or a people carrier, I ring pronto direct nearly every time after a backload, very polite not so much as an insulting job.

So I will ask the question 'Has anyone off ere done work for Pronto, if so whats the secret!

I have done work for Pronto, but only jobs that are in my area. If they put jobs on this site I ring them direct, never had a problem with them.

Thats because they will post it on an other exchange site well known for that

The last job did for Pronto I quoted £35 for a 18 mile run, collection was only 8 miles from myself & i got the job, so i dont call that peanuts

Depends on what was involved

These small runs can be a pain and obviously make you not available for anything more lucrative.

You'd have been a mug to have charged any less

I have done a few jobs for Pronto over the years and always found that they would go out of their way to find a job going south if you're north of Hadrian's wall! Reliable payments, so why bash the good guys?

I was asked a question, so I replied with a honest answer.

The post was not intended to "bash" pronto just curious as to why they are the most prolific posters of jobs with the least amount of manpower
