Just like to thank DHL for the dropping one of your customers in the Sh***t, if you had done as your customer had asked then you would not have lost them, i had a phone call from one of their customers on Monday morning asking if i could deliver a box into London by 3pm as DHL had let them down, they should have collected by 5pm Friday. I did this with no problem. I now have a meeting on Friday morning with company MD as the person that i dealt with highly recommended me so hears keeping my fingers crossed i get their work.

Good for you.

Was the original DHL job taken on by them as a sameday or as an "Express parcel"

Isn't it amazing how when an overnight (Hub & Spoke) job goes wrong then it becomes the most important job on the planet !!!

We once received a DHL "called but you were out" card by 2nd class post! To an premises which are staffed from 07:00 til 19:00...

Good luck but i suspect, like many, they want a 1st class service for a second rate price

It was undoubtedly an overnight as you say it should've been collected friday

Like most industries, customers go for cheap, then end up paying more when the original balls it up, and we bail em out

Isn't it a shame they have to learn the hard way, instead of gettin the pro's to do it in the 1st place

Ian, it was an express parcel

I do many of these, its always a balance of between need & cost, it won't stop them using overnighters because... Of the cost!

I remember one they manufactured another part for me to take same day as the overnighter said it was impossible to "find" the lost parcel as it was in the system.

It is all down to the perceived definition of "Express" and unrealistic expectations of the absolute reliability of "Hub & Spoke" systems.

If the goods aren't collected then they will not get to the destination - A short sameday to the local inputting depot often makes sense as does using an AM service - then there is chance to "chase" the parcel at 12:01.
