Although postcode bookings give an accurate mileage, there is the possibility that you're giving your customers details to all and sundry. Some postcodes are not shared but are individual to that particular company If it were me i'd advise you just put the 1st part in eg EC2 or CM24, you can always manually adjust the mileage if necessary

3691You won't give too much away if you use all the outbound postcode (as you suggest) and then the number(s) from the inbound postcode, just leaving off the last letters. - and there will be enough detail for an accurate estimate.

10314Depends if your customer is the collection or delivery tho doesn't it... Either way, using the full postcode CAN give your customers address away inadvertantly... Just a warning

3691Sorry, not made myself clear - Post codes identify groups and tiers of addresses. They are comprised of two parts. The first half is known as the outbound postcode and identifies the post town. The second half is the inbound postcode and will identify a limited number of addresses and in some cases an individual address.
I never give the letters of the inbound postcode - using WF9 1** to SP11 6** is adequate for pricing a job.

Probably a good idea only to use those you know you can trust then?

10314Sorry [name] but you miss the point... Post a job using all the postcode and EVERYONE can see it whether its someone you trust or not... Once posted its out there for everyone to see
All i'm doing is pointing out that SOME postcodes WILL give away who your customer is... Others cover a larger area so won't... Merely a warnng as there are those that will take advantage

2848I agree with you [name]. Not missed the point, but you are merely pointing out the 'danger' of selling any job on an exchange site! Better to keep work in house if at all possible, especially if you are not in a secure relationship or contract with your customer. That said, it is often not possible to do all work oneself, then, when having to publicly sell work, your advice is prudent. Sadly, there are lots who have no morals, who definitely will take advantage.
