Most places like nuclear establishments etc usually take an age to get into, maybe first time u will need an induction or a safety brief allow extra time just in case, took me an age to get into cristal pigments in the north east aftrer having to sit an induction that was a pass or fail thing as well lol. Oh I would make sure you have good ID with you as well

Mike. I'm going to Cristal Pigments this morning! As you say, they give you a questionnaire to fill in after the video and you have to answer 100% right or you have to sit through the video again. After the second time of watching the security guard gave up and filled it in for me!

How odd. On all the occasions when I've been there, they virtually waved me in through the gate - the only reason I stopped was to ask them where to find my delivery point. Couple of times I've delivered to a navy ship - y'know, one of those things with guns and stuff - and even went right onboard to get the signature.

Plymouth a different matter altogether, go get trained. But it turned out to be sit and watch a video - they actually didn't even tell me to watch it - just that all the two dozen chairs were facing the video which ran on a 15 minute loop, so you watched or got bored stiff. They then issued a necklace ID badge which lasts two or three years. And I can now go round there unescorted. TBH I'd prefer to be escorted - at least whoever escorts me will know where to go - these places can be a complete maze!

I've been to Portsmouth a couple of times last year, when I worked for City Sprint, no problem getting on, just make sure you have ID with you.

Anything government related is a pain you have to jump through hoops when you get there, went to one place 2 nobodys searched my van even under the bonnet took my mobile phone and passport off me was there just short of 2 hours.

I didn't have a logo on my van but had to show city sprint ID card and Driving license. I hung around for an hour to see if I could get a backload but nothing doing. City sprint Plymouth office said they normally get runs out of there around 2pm. Hate to say this but might be worth ringing them while you are down there as they quite often struggle to cover work in that area. Can't believe I just said that, but why cut your nose off to spite your face? Whatever that means.

The job from the Naval Base was a collection. I had already delivered my customers goods and got the job from Portsmouth to Derby at full rate off Courier Exchange. Who says Courier Exchange doesn't work, Only 80 dead miles rather than 270 :)
