New Startups

Seems to be more new starters on this and other forums than I have noticed before. Guess even more soon after the demise of Honda and Jessops too.

We have had several enquiries by mail and phone this last week too. I must say that it is unbelievable how some communicate as well. Nothing puts me off more than answering the phone to hear 'got any jobs going mate?'.

I understand that this sector seems an easy option to start up in. I do wonder though if many put any research or effort into it before making the move. As most will soon discover there is much more than a love of driving to make a success of it.

I've had 3 called today on the same subject Alan. After assessing them quickly, told them youve picked a quiet period, and as you have pointed out no effort or research has been put into it. But they did reply that a few other local businesses said the same. So that must say something.

What equation are we to look for, this year... More drivers+ fewer jobs/ more drivers+less rate+more jobs

Think I will become a joiner instead. I can make the gallows, can someone lend me about 8ft of rope. I am first in line to test it works.

There will be even more calls this December due to Bulgaria and co having free reign to settle.

I can't recall seeing so many startups on the various sites, backed up by more and more posted CV's and cold calls..
