Ctrl+P versus Royal Mail

Just wondering if any larger companies with Accounts Departments can shed some light on a frustration for me...

As you know Marcus from the job to france you did for us - that we also require the hard copy POD sent to us in the post (also paid invoice upon receipt)

Not you in particular mate, but we have come across many subbies who feel it is acceptable to send emails with invoices dated for when the email is recieved but do not feel it just as important to send us the pod. As a general rule of thumb - we require back the original paperwork for any work completed under our name.

Imagine getting approx 50 invoices per week and on top of that you have to filter out which pods have been recieved and which havent, which invoices have been recieved with and without pods. It gets time consuming and complicated sometimes too with more complex jobs or subbies that do 3 or 4 jobs a day for you.

If our customer requests the original paperwork back then thats what they get. No questions asked.

Hope this helps clarify mate, of why some people do not accept emailed invoices and require the paperwork back with the accompanying invoice.

Thats fine H, and to be fair I see that point, but it's only relevant for me when talking about Euro work and CMR's. That is the only time I use a pen and paper, (unless specifically requested by the customer). 

I think its down to admin not being too good at what they do, to have to cross reference everything in triplicate, delaying tactics and for not being very up to date with the latest gizmo's.

I think young courier mx has a point hard copy PODs these days !!!!

Its 2012 dont tell your customer your a high tec company then send him hard copy pods

I have done this job for decades and I can honestly say the requirement for hard copy pods are getting less and a hard copy pod no longer holds in court as I discovered last year !!!

Most of our customers (courier and transport companies) care less and less about it and most prefere me to email PDF copies or what ever you call it if I can get the bloody thing to work and this is normally 3 days out 6 as a rule

Hang on speed, If Capitalism doesn't work you would not be in business, Or at least all your profits would have to be shared out to people who choose SOCIALIST handouts as a way of life..
That's the labour way, Give everyone free handouts and they'll vote them back in....That's pure logic.

I have first had knowledge of the spongers though.
Our office is on the next corner to the job centre and every single day i see people with Late model  BMW'S Merc's and Audi's park outside our office window and walk round to sign on, I wonder why they don't park in the car park opposite the job centre

The welfare state is corrupt and doesn't work...trouble is what do you replace it with?

I think that there should be no council streetcleaners, no litterpickers, no park staff.
Anything manual that is paid for via council tax etc should have all the direct labour drawn from people who sign on  "After all they are signing on to confirm that they are fit and looking for work"

If they don't turn up duduct some of the benefit.
To be honest i would even go as far as giving benefit claimants food vouchers that aren't redeemable against cigarettes  or alcohol.

Bloody good idea H but you'd be making even more people redundant. My other half talked about food vouchers.....but you'd soon find they were being used to buy fags and booze on the black market...look at phone cards in prison...just another form of currency to what we already have.
