Couriers in east lancs?

Hello people, my name is gareth, i'm 30 years of age and currently doing my research into becoming a same day courier. I have managed so far to save up around £5000, and currently just getting quotes for the correct courier insurance for a combo size van(quotes so far between 1500-2200). My plan is to become a full member on here as well as other sites(like the big yellow one). My question is should I be trying the likes of tnt, dhl etc first to see if they have any work? Are any of you guys close to me (burnley, east lancs) that would be kind enough to talk to me and point me in the right direction? Sorry for the long post but any help would be much appreciated. gareth

TNT will give you a good foundation, but don't expect it to pay. The rates aren't all that, but it will give you a good grounding as to how iet all works... Or at least how it should work. There is plenty of advice on here and codforum, and out of all the exchange sites, Courier Exchange is by far the best, and mtvan is beginning to compete. Be careful to avoid the scammers, codforum has a section devoted to this and many other things to be aware of. Quite a few from your area on here so i'm sure they'll help too
