Hey guys, just looking at a second hand combo, which is fairly local to me it's on a 58 plate and perfect in everyway (clean and tidy, fsh etc) only thing is it has 100k on the clock already. In a perfect world i'd be happier with 20-30k less on the clock. What do you guys think?

If it's got 20-30K at 5 years old, run like hell.

If it is a 1.3 then walk away, 1.7 better.

It's the 1.7 Isuzu engine not the 1.3 fiat

Are the 1.3s really that bad? I had a 1.7 and it was fine, I wouldn't think twice about buying one with 100k as long as I could see some service history.

Had a 1.3 as a company van few years ago nothing but trouble. Had a Vauxhall truck with Isuzu engine and it was bullet proof.

5 years old, 100k... As long as its been looked after then its just run in so if the price is right i'd go for it

Everything looks right, to be honest think luck comes into it as much as anything I have a Vauxhall insignia always looked after and serviced correctly, but something always seams to need attention on it every 3 months or so, were as my wife's kia always just gets away with just a service once a year, lol.

I think its cos the drive slower and don't do as many miles!

I have the 1.7 Isuzu engine, the belt interval is 100K so get it done right away, I like mine

Whatever motor I buy I get belt done straight away. Once had one go on an old sooty van I had, so once bitten.

We had a 1.3 Corsa Van bought at auction 80k ran it unto 180k no probs at all.... then sold it for 2k bought at auction for 1.2k, if your comfy at auctions you cant go wrong buying an ex lease company van 5 years old with around 80k on. Run it for 2 years you'll still return a profit!

Just bought a Fiesta Van last Weds, 60k warranted miles FSH for 1900k on 06 plate

When I first started doing this in 2004 I bought a four year old 1.9 Berlingo at auction with 100k on it, I think I bid about 1450. When auction fee and VAT added it came to about 1900. I ran it for 9 months and added another 80k miles and then someone crashed into it and wrote it off. His insurance company offered me 1900, I bit their hand off!

Ok so 100k with 1.7 engine and fsh shouldn't be a concern?

I tend to find that the outside condition of a vehicle tells you a lot about the mechanical condition, so if it's tidy on the outside it's probably good mechanically. Just do all the usual checks, test drive etc.

The 1.7 used to come as intercooled and non intercooled, (Dti and Di), I had a hired Di after the accident and it was horrible to drive, very narrow power band giving scary moments at busy roundabouts, then a few years later I went for a Dti and that was much better, and more economical too.

I'd still like to hear from more owners with experience of the 1.3 Fiat engine.

I had the use of the 1.3 for a month until I was given a transit. I found it great round to very torqy, have heard probs with timing chain tho. I like idea of the 1.7cdti as its an Isuzu engine, I think I have unfounded fears of going with fiat engine.

Currently running a 1.3 combo on a 60 plate. Have just clocked up 120,000 miles. Services every 20,000, touch wood going like a dream. Plan to change for another combo in January.

Would you go for the new combo?

I've been running a 1.3 10 plate with 60k on clock for the last 6 weeks. Found it alright so far, especially round town & it seems ok on the motorway.

After a week I had to have the exhaust gas recirculation valve replaced & the inlet manifold. My mechanic seems to think the manifold is a common fault due it being plastic & Vauxhall having them on the shelf when he ordered one.

Had a 1.7 company van for a few months years ago & I thought it was a good van.

Have hardly seen any new combo's on the road. Vauxhall have managed to turn out a really ugly looking beast. Would prefer to stay with current model, not sure when production stopped, and may be forced to look at new version.

1.3 ok for maybee 100, 000 I have had 2 and ok ish, but wouldn't want to take one much past that, a good diesel engine should do without fathing about 250, 000 miles
