<P>I have posted many jobs on this site in the last 4 months.</P> <P>I have only ever received 2 offers on 15 jobs.</P> <P>If you are successfully getting your work covered, can you please share with me your secrets.</P> <P>I am also on Courier Exchange, where this year alone I have posted 168 jobs.</P> <P>I have had aproximately 250 offers and covered 112 of them.</P> <P>I either smell, people don't want to make offers for good jobs, or I am doing something wrong.</P> <P>I realise that I am setting myself up for the rise here.</P> <P>Helpful comments would also be appreciated.</P>

3179Sometimes i think dealing direct with more local courier companies to the job works better but not in every case.<br>I would much prefer to call a trusted courier near the collection point and get the job covered quicker and also we can collect faster if a courier calls us direct. <br>This isn't to cut out subbies but sometimes time is of the essence and you cant wait for people calling with prices etc.<br><br>So if you are struggling for a collection near Nottingham or Derby........................Who ya Gonna Call??????????<br><br>

10314It may be your choice of Cologne but i think its more likely to be the fact that there is a distinct lack of affordable drivers in your area...even on cx i think you'd admit that its tough covering work down there at the right price.<div><br></div>
Allen Ltd
1126Allen Ltd here I'm based in heathrow I have swb transit an car fully insured covering whole of uk an some parts of Europe always available 24/7 day an night
<P>What is the right price for drivers in [name]'s area. As a rule I charge 70pplm and 55pplm for backloads. Is that regarded as too much, given the price of fuel and insurance ect. The problem we have down here is the lack of work currently. Recently I have experenced whole days with no work available at all. This site has very little work from this area, given that Pronto put the majority off work on the site, mainly northern/heathrow area based.</P> <P>Regards</P> <P>[name] [name] Sameday.</P>

10314Nothing wrong with 70pplm....my experience is generally the goin rate is higher in the Kent, East Sussex area, but i'm all for people provin me wrong!!!
Harding Direct
2148I must admit I have just posted a very small job only 35 miles for a small van and have had two offers so far 1 £85.00 the other £200 have the rates gone up and no one told me? <br>
Hill Group
584Well, at those quoted prices I can only deduce that they were either terminally stupid or insane. Either way they'll soon be looking to do something else because they sure as hell won't be getting any courier work coming their way.

10314you should've told em you didn't need the a) stretch limo and b) the helicopter on this occasion
Not had the chance to put my 70pplm to the test. Yet another day of no work at all. The only job offer was a return to mobile phone delivery. (Really dont want to go down that route again). Will have to see how things are going forward. But very concerned given that generally the last two weeks of December/First two weeks of January are normally totally dead. I was hoping for a good November to top up funds. Not getting off to a good start.

790<p>The reason I am recruiting is because ocassionally I run out of drivers. I deal with direct. I have a large number of those. So suggesting dealing with direct drivers is a good idea but does not help.</p> <p>I recruit on Courier Exchange and would like to recruit on here.</p> <p>My point is that when I run out of drivers and cannot cover work on C.X. it would be great to put work on Mtvan and get it covered.</p> <p>Three years ago, work posted by me on Mtvan would have resulted in me receiveing many offers. Mtvan went bust and the new current version has never looked the same.</p> <p>Despite having a huge number of registered companies and subbies and get ting messages like "265 alerted" I have never received a single call from anyone.</p> <p>I have recruited 3 outstanding subbies and have a good reciprocal arrangement with a company member in Tonbridge. Apart from that sadly to say my membership has been worthless.</p> <p>I am still recruiting. Can definately provide work for anyone local with a Luton curtain-sider. I still need small van o/d s.</p> <p>Please give me a ring.</p> <p>Kind regards</p> <p>[name]</p>

584Unfortunately, [name], I'm too far away from you to be of any use on a daily/regular basis but I've entered your contact details into my 'phone. Anytime I'm passing your way, I'll give you a call.

5<p>[name], I am on cx as well and very seldom do I bid on a G.T.M. I cannot stand it when you get the usual retorts, Can you do it a bit cheaper, will call you back, jobs gone etc. I would rather wait for a call than go into a bidding war. If you need anything covered from Basingstoke area give me call if I can help you then I will. VW Caddy Maxi. Only place I won't cover for subbies is London'</p><p> </p><p>Cheers Lindsey.</p>

1825<P>Hi [name]</P> <P>I recently found the same, signed up about 3 weeks ago... looking for backloads and to loose jobs that i cannot do in time. I did not receieve a bid until 1515 and that was for £55 this is only 14 miles??</P> <P>On the otherside if you ever need any work doing i have four offices Reading, High Wycombe, Uxbridge and West London... We run over 100 vehicles so im sure we can help you out.. 567CX provides me with 99% of my work, I have made many contacts since going self employed in June 2011. MTVAN has provided me with one job since I joined in November, most of my CX contacts are on here too.<br><br>The exchange is an excellent tool for earning a living and some of the comments on here have surprised me. I run a SWB Vivaro and charge between 60 and 90 pplm depending on the load, the location and the day of the week, but I have seen me win jobs at 1.20 pplm!<br>

567Friday afternoon with time constraints, 55quid sounds fair enough to me, we are in this game to earn money after all, Monday morning, it would be 30 quid but thats how the game works, the customer could always go hire a van and a driver to do the job, be a tad more than 55 though I reckon!<br><br>I did a job from a Devon town to S London for 110 recently and the customer was being billed 230 by TNT who had subbed it out to a courier company who had then posted it on CX!!<br><br>I always remind myself who is actually paying out to do the job, ie ME, and Im also doing the work so therefore I want the Lions share of the cash. As long as everyone makes something, happy days! <br><br><br>
Wilson Couriers
1825<P>Yeah fair enough its a reasonable price for a busy courier company, thats the price they want to do the job hence they have to pay a driver! But to be honest 412 drivers allerted 1 quote! Was hoping more subbies would quote, got the job done for £30 by phoning an existing supplier. 14 miles that works out as 3.92 per mile.. We all here to make money! not just the driver!</P>
dealine i was the who quated for your shrewsbury job it said mwb van as for the 14 miles depends where in telford the collection and on a friday yet you must have covered it.
Wilson Couriers
1825yeah i did thanks for your quote thou as you were the only person out of 4oo odd alerts that quoted. I understand why it was £55 just amazed I only received one quote in 4 hours!

567Id have done for 50 if Id have been in the area!<br>

10314<div><b>[admin: Carryoncouriers now removed]</b></div><div><br></div>Carry on couriers...sorry you find it confusing but i can't see what relevance this has...have you ever bid on a single job of mine for you to get confused?<div>Its not a secret...[business] have an interest in [business]....everyone who needs to know does know...wot is it you're trying to infer?</div>
Long Services
10314Me thinx Carry on couriers must've had a bad day as he seems to be deliberately trying to wind people up...i'm not sure wot the motive behind it is but if he has anything useful to contribute i'm sure we'll all be listenin to see wot pearls of wisdom he has to offer us all

10314[name] for you info...in the last 6 months we've put 881 jobs on cx with 786 successfully covered, i've put 4 on here and had one succesful bid

10314like i said...its no secret...and as you don't bid for any of my work why it should concern you i find somewhat confusing

10314mate...you have a problem...not sure wot it is but....for your information...see if you can grasp it...<div>We are paying the relevant rate and cx are fully aware of who we are and wot the relationship is between 121 and speed</div><div>So go pester someone who gives a shit eh?</div>
Hill Group
5Thanks for clarifying that. As they know about it, and condone it happening. I will be inveseting in another company (£1) and letting them use my login to post work. <br><br><br>Thanks for the info/[name] when [name] rings moaning.........<br>
Hey Speedy if we post work on here does it also feature on cx ?
Long Services
10314No BCN it doesn't<div>Some are members of both, CX is busier but more expensive</div><div>I tend to just use the forum on here as it WAS a nice friendly place to vent your spleen and to share advcie.....i say was cos sid james over there at carry on seems to be trying to cause trouble.....quite why is beyond me</div>
Speedy i think you need to confront Kingsdown about these allegations regarding tnt & carding customers while purchasing photo copy paper !

10314Hi [name]<div>I have absolutely nothing to do with [business] and I would take with a pinch of salt the allegations of the recently joined kent based courier making the allegations.</div><div>I will leave it to [name] of [location] to answer for himself if he deems it worth answering.</div><div>This guy has been on this site for less than 2 hrs and already tried stirring things up.</div><div>Like I said i have no idea wot his motive is, quite why he feels the need to start these threads, and why he's joined if i'm honest.</div><div>Anyone reading his threads will see him for wot he is and if he's expecting to get any work from here (which i doubt if i'm honest) then he is very misguided i'd have thought.</div>

10314nothing stopping him joining again under another pseudonym tho is there<div>Maybe you should vet them b4 they join up?</div><div>Am i right in thinkin anyone can join, with no checks wotsoeva....obviously a pro member has to provide certain details...should not the same apply to none pro's?</div><div>Once something has been said, its out there in the domain....kinda too late...know wot i mean?</div><div>This is generally a friendly forum offering good advice and the odd venting of spleens, it would be a shame to lose that</div><div><br></div>

5839You do need a genuine email address to sign up, his is now used so he'd have to get another genuine address.<div><br></div><div>I can do all sorts of things to prevent him coming back, but right now I don't expect to see him again. I'd like this forum to remain a friendly place too.</div>
