So here i was...friday...and ready to rock an roll...and now not sure if i've upset someone from up high but here's a summary of my day....so far!!!!

1) Ring ring...."Speed Couriers"..."yes hi...how much for a sprinter from CM6 to OL12...100 tyres"...gave a price, he tried to negotiate down but i'm not shifting..."ok fine..worth a try, cash on delivery ok?"..."sorry no, creditcard only"..."ah..ok i'll have to get back to you as i haven't got the card on me..can i give you job the details now tho?"..."yes, fire away"...."going to xxxxx and my mobile number is xxxxx", "whats the company called" i ask, "star tyres but i'll meet the driver at xxx, just get him to ring me when he's closer"...."oh yes" says i..." give me a landline then"..."no landline sorry..just get him to phone me when he's close"..."so you're tellin me your business has no landline number"..." yes thats right"...."yeh ok....phone me with your card details then and we'll talk later".

Upon which i ring the collection company, inform them that this sounds well dodgy, to which they say " yeh we thought that but the card's gone thru ok"...once i tell them that this doesn't actually mean diddly squat cos we've had payments chucked back up to 4 months later...i hear a pause and an "oh really...shit..didn't know that..thanx for the warning, we'll look into it and get back to you".....so be warned...gettin a card authorised means absolutley F*** ALL CHAPS.

My good deed of the day has saved the collection company 4K!!!!

2) ring ring "Speed Couriers"..."yes hello, are you anywhere near Bishops Stortford"..."yes, we're based at Stansted Airport"...."Is that near Bishops Stortford"..."Er yes, 10 mins down the road"...."ok good, can you give me a price from there to Northampton"..."yes sure, have you got the postcode for the collection and delivery"..."er no sorry...i have the delivery, the collection is rye road, thats all i know"..."do you mean rye street, there isn't a rye road"..."yes thats it rye street"...."business or private address"...."oh its a business, they're called xxxxx"..."ok thanx, so thats cm23xxxx to NNxxxx, that'll be £xxxx"..."really, is the the best you can do...its only a small box"..."yes i'm afraid so, its all done on mileage"..."ok how about dunstable then"..."have you got the postcode"..."no sorry, its gale avenue"....."hmmm...not listed"..."oh ok...maybe dale avenue then"...."yes that comes up...that'll be £xxxx"..."oh really...ok how about to my cousins in hemel..hp something"....."street?" i ask....she answers and give her the price...."ok howz about you just pick it up and hand it to me...how much would that be?"..."sorry" i say "wot do you mean hand it to you?!!" ..."well" she says " they won't release it to me, apparently they only release to courier companies, so if i drive down and meet up with your driver he can just then hand it to me...would that work"..."well yes i guess so" says I..."how much would that be" says she "£15+ vat" says I...."oh really...whys that then?"..."because thats our minimum charge".."oh i see...can you do it for a fiver?"..."no..£15"..."6".."no"..."7"..."no £15"...."ok ok a tenner?"...by this time i'm beginning to lose the will to live so i accept a tenner..cash..."ok good, 2pm pick up, you hold it and i'll get it from you later ok"..."later?" i ask..."yes...wot time do you close"...."we don't we're 24/7"....she chuckles "really ha ha"..."yes why's that funny?"...."i don't know really..ok i'll ring you later on"

So there ya go...it gets better...i send my man at 1350 and get a call at 1401 " has your driver set off yet?"..."yes he has"..."oh really "..."yes you wanted a 2pm collection so he's obviously enroute"..."can you get him to stop please, i don't need it now ".......

Priceless....and joy upon joy she may ring me next week to rearrange...lol

3) Job given to a driver from KT8 to SE19 at 10am.....price agreed off he goes.
By 1300 i realise i've had no pod so i ring him "Hiya, is that Tony"..."yes speakin".."have you got the pod for the delivery to xxxx in se19 for me please"..."sorry a wot?"..."a pod"..."wots a pod"..."proof of delivery"..."erm"..."who signed for it and when"..."oh yes its been delivered"..."yes, i'm not doubting that but who signed for it"..."do you want me to send it to you"..."no no just give it to me over the phone"...."over the phone?"..."yes..read me the name of who signed for it and what time it was"..."ok it was signed by xxxx at 1130"..."thanx for that"..."do you want me to send it to"....I DON'T F****IN CARE WOT YOU DO WITH IT NOW MATE JEEZ

Dead right on the card transaction.
When you get an authorisation code it only means that there is cash in the account to cover this transaction.
It does not indicate that the card is stolen and usually the card has been cloned so will be accepted at the time of transaction.
We had a similar case and lost around £125 and the goods were delivered to a house in north London but when the police went round the property was empty.
The goods we delivered we a set of Aston Martin wheels worth £2000.
The seller lost the lot.
Our bank did a chargeback and there is no appeal process as the cardholder wasn't present, Our local police said it was a card fraud from London, Call the London police.....And the London police said here is a crime number but they are 99.99% certain i will get nowhere as it is a low priority crime.
Our security policy is now mega tight.

Added bonus for being the hero of the day saved the company money & getting a account out it, that'll go down well in the text books.. all good in the end.

Your 1st example is so familiar I can smell them a mile off these days.

I had one on Wednesday and like you I rang the vendor to warn them they were being ripped off.

PCC: Hi can I speak to the manager please
V: Yes who's calling
PCC: It's Damian at Preston Couriers
V: One moment.....he's not interested, he doesn't use couriers
PCC: No I'm not selling anything, we've been asked to collect something from you and I'm just ringing to warn him that it's a fraud.
V: One moment.....he's not interested.
PCC: ??? Not interested that he's being ripped off for over 5k
V: No
PCC: OK then have a nice day.

Can't help some people.

My thoughts on the matter ...

case 1 - well dealt with

case 2 - you were obviously dealing with an idiot

case 3 - ditto. It might pay you to use a professional next time.

Speed Couriers you’re a legend, your experience helps us all with the up’s and downs we  face in our industry but yet on our lowest day you still manage to crack a joke. (thumbs up)
