hi all, whats the general census about having tacho's in vans to restrict amount of hours we can run for and maybe pushing the rates per mile up so that we don't have do do stupid amount of hours to earn a fairer wage.

This is a very difficult thing to police, You have Plumbers, Builders and valeters who all use White vans. So this would be hugely time consuming for the police and vosa unless they stop every van.

Then the cowboys would only use cars to undercut small package deliveries anyway.

this industry will never get to the rates couriers deserve so limiting your driving time just limits your earning potential...its hard enough passing on rate increases when fuel goes up.As there is no proper standards like there is in the hackney carriage taxi industry that sets rates and vets drivers properly then you'll always get someone who is prepared to drive for less....look at minicabs for example!!!
