278What sort of traffic lights do you have up in Nottingham mate Red, Amber Green down South. Also should it not go Red- Red Amber- Amber- Green just a thought. But I agree good idea in principal perhaps Red Amber could be next day?

3179I thought green would confuse people as in go it's a an urgent job so blue is more mellow.<br>
Or in other words. " cheap ". " very cheap " and " shiply price "<br>

10314i think 2 is all ya need really<div>Pointless filling this site up with shite.</div><div>Wot we want is quality not quantity</div><div>I'm all for a colourcode tho...easy to see</div><div>green for hotshot</div><div>red for sold</div><div>amber for anytime that day</div><div>I still consider a job for a pick up at 1800 for a 9am delivery to be a hotshot</div><div>Anything else should be going on their sistersite deliverysupermarket.</div><div><br></div><div>To me hotshot means i want someone who knows wot he's doing irrespective of timing</div><div><br></div>
[name] there was a similar discussion on cx as to the sameday hotshot and backload jobs. Hotshot price for a pick up asap and deliver direct and a lower price for collect and deliver before close of play. My opinion is a sameday is a sameday regardless of the timeframe. In all the years in this business if a customer want an item delivering tomorrow or this week then they have an option of pallet networks and parcel companies or slightly higher with a coloaded courier. If they want it today then its quoted as a sameday dedicated vehicle<br>

10314yes i hear ya and i agree but i'm afraid there are a growing number of courier companies that are bringing in a 2 tier sameday.<div>All a bit odd if you ask me cos if i get one to Manchester at 12 then there really is no option but to go now...BUT if its say Stansted to London ready now but for del by 1700 then many are offering a lower rate.</div><div>I think it allows for those wanting a return load to get one where normally the timing wouldn't allow</div><div>For instance if i put a hotshot on now for London...a driver clearing in my area at 1400 wouldn't quote for it....but if it had that 2nd tier available then perhaps he would.</div><div>I don't want to have a 2 tier sameday but i don't wanna be stickin to my guns and twiddlin my thumbs either</div>
Brown Haulage
221Sameday should be as it says "SAMEDAY' making tiers is killing us. Come on everybody lets all play on the same playing field then we can get somewere...ever the optimist!<div>Joe</div>

10314[name]<div>I agree but can we all afford to "make a point"....short answer is no</div>

540I like Speed's version as red should surely means STOP contacting me, it sold ffs!
So when the job poster marks the job as sold and it dissapears off the system isnt any good then ? now you need a red light instead. <br>

221Speed I know were your coming from buddy, as you have been in the business for a long time, were do you see it going in the long term? I am new to this and it has changed a lot since I did courier work years ago. So your opinion would be appreciated and anybody else's opinions are welcome. I also hope you can keep going for a long time in the future.

10314Well this downturn seems to be lasting a long time, a couple of more years yet at least i'd say.<div>It's survival of the fittest, the need to be flexible without panickin, and in any recession or woteva you wanna call, it does get rid of the dead wood.....just so long as we're not the dead wood eh?!!!...lol</div><div>More networkin....keepin tabs on cashflow, late payers....makes you more vigilant i guess is wot i'm sayin.</div><div>But don't get too downhearted...Jan and Feb are always quiet</div>
Brown Haulage
221Thanks speed.

540Come to think of it, if vendors can't be arsed to remove jobs already sold and delivered, what makes anyone think they will be arsed to add a red light to their ad?
Dunn Couriers
540I'm making cuts already. Bought some electronic cigars of an American ebayer (Dollar Dick - I kid you not!) which should save me £50 a week as I am addicted to Cafe Creme cigars and am getting through a couple of tins (20 cigars) a day!
