I have had to have winter tyres on the four vans we go regularly abroad in, for the last few years. [It's the law] and to be honest the difference is staggering. I came over the snowy A66 earlier this year and in deepish snow had no problems despite other vehicles slithering off the road.
Ought to be mandatory in the UK too
