Hi, I have done a lot of work like this for Interlink its simple really, what we do is empty the roll cages out and lay the parcels down in order in which your going to do your route, take an Ato Z with you of the area your going to be working in your find you will need it, as you dont want to keep going backwards and forwards on your self plus you may not know all the streets.

some places just group the same postcodes together scan up the route and optimise the route so you get the quickest and most logical route ( May be easier to start with) then when it comes to loading the van you just load in reverse last drop goes on first etc, depending on how many cons and parcels you have either deck load or stack it up depends on vehicle and amount you carry , also worth trying to leave parcels so you can see the labels saves a lot of time.

Any other questions feel free to shout

Hi David

They probably will give you a manifest, ie a list (paper or electronic) of what to deliver to where. It may or may not be routed for you. If not, sit down first and work out the best and fastest route.

Check for "pre-10am" deliveries or similar, if they offer that kind of thing, to make sure your route allows for these arriving on time.

Then load from the bottom of the list, so the stuff at the start of your route is nearest the back doors when you start your run.

Think about any extra large or fragile stuff damaging other stuff as it flops around in the back. Ie think about load security and prevention of damage.

Make sure you have everything that the manifest says you have, so there is no dispute later, and check for stuff that's damaged when you're given it. Make a note, or reject it.

Check for crap addresses eg PObox numbers etc, and stuff that shouldn't be on your run.

Hope this helps. I've never been to a Yodel depot so I don't know their procedures, but I used to help out at a similar business I owned in Wales a few years ago.

Hope this helps.

Tim
