i heard a conversation the other day

Where you travel within the EU you dont need a passport you just need some sort of ID that your a UK resident Ie a driving licence

But this only works within the EU Is this correct?

yes... But without a passport you wont get back into UK

Question... Why would you want to travel without a passport. Plus when leaving UK you are asked to show said document so its really a pointless question and shows you shouldn't always listen to other peoples conversations lol

European treaty were in states you have free movement within the EU without borders and hence no you don't need a passport but they will make your life a misery if you don't.
