My mini microwave arrived over the weekend and i have used it for the 1st time today heating one of pukkas "pedigree Ale and Steak" pies. 1st impressions are good as it took just 4 mins to heat to an optimum temperature, however as its been so cold today i would have preferred to cook 2 at the same time, which is not possible due to the size of unit. Im now off to Morrisons as i have been told they have a buy one get one free on Ginsters.

Im sure this weather will prompt many drivers to invest in winter essentials ,now that the 1st snows have arrived.

It could be an idea to post any "offers" on the board to benefit other drivers?

Whether food or shovels or anti-freeze its a good idea knowing where we can get the best deal

Maplins are selling folding plastic snow shovels for £4.99 and aluminium for £9.99p. Got the aluminium one as it's far stronger. Can't believe you're buying ginster food it's crap! Thought you had taste lol.

Bought from Maplins a small ceramic auxiliary 12v heater for when parked up powered by a small(ish) leisure battery that fits nicely under the passenger seat, but need to fit a split charge relay to complete the job. Where did you get your oven from Mr G?

Dont wait on Mr. G

He's a tight sod... I recall he was going to start a list of eating establishments a couple of month ago. Fit for any MTVAN member to eat at.... Were all still waiting for that.

So come on James put us all out of our misery where did you get it from ( Compamy name please) and how much did you pay for it, Wats it called and how big is it, and will it run from the ciggy (accessory) socket

SEXI please show me the post where i was going to provide a list for other members... Im sure i asked people to contribute ideas. Have you watched the video? All the info is there and as you will hear it runs on batteries and not through the ciggie lighter as 1st thought

My website will be stufffortheroad.Co.Uk and hopefully be up and running for you lot to purchase from by the end of February.

Since you mentioned it, i think a blog for visitors featuring chipshops/cafes and other establishments may be a useful link on site.Especially for travellers - chipadvisor

Taking lesson from Mr G,
Maplins DO NOT sell snow shovels as stated above, but I'm starting a new web based company called shovelitup.com, where you can get plastic ones for 7.99p, and aluminium for 13.99p..

Wood & Sons

Why would we need a snow shovel?

McDonald Logistics

Surely it should be www.stuffforthevan.co.uk Dont worry already registered it!

I keep a couple of 6 pack cans of soft drinks in the van, rather than paying £1.79 for a bottle of coke, its about 25-30p a can

AJM. Haven't you noticed that white stuff falling from the sky and sticking on the ground? Also, the aluminum ones come in handy for putting pies on and heating up on your engine, therefore no need for a microwave.

Oh well :( Best of luck with it! I think it could be really popular if you have good presentation and an interesting stock of stuff.

Mr G.. If we all buy a mini microwave like the one that you wont tell us how much and where, we wont need to use you website, cos we could do our Hollands pies and pasties in our microwave on the hoof. And as previously mentioned in another thread. Some pound shops stock a voltage dropper for your ciggy (Accessory) socket which drops the 12v to 5v. In this case you can charge your batteries in your mini microwave whilst on the move. Mapplins sell a simlar dropper with a usb and mini usb connectors. Last time I bough one of these it was £10.

Now com'on James how much, where did you get it from, and wats it called... Stop being so mean

It would make sense and work out cheaper to buy a cheap normal 240v small microwave and invest in a cheapish inverter than can handle the continous watts output, but the inverter must be double of said output. Bigger the better.

Eee aaa dont no. Iff it works on batts it will also work in ya ciggy lighter, after all it is conected to a batt, or your van wouldnt go.

Years in the trenches up on the north yorks moors, no food, no water, 10 15 20 below. Piss wet thru. A VAN. Pure luxury. All you need is a sleeping bag, jump in the back or stay in the front, warm n dry. As for mucky hart attack pies, try a big fat chees butty. Lasts fer a few days fills ya gut. An a flask a coffee. Pure luxury. Food flasks with stew are well smart.

If you want reasonable food at good prices and a shop full of toys for your van, try lorry parks, i have lived in them all over the last 30 years. And never use motorway services. If you want a laugh and a bit of satisfaction, buy a pie and a packet of fags in the services, when they say £10 please, just throw them on the counter and say. I will give up smoking and die of starvation first. Robbing b******s

Keep dreamin Nigel (exforce secure) Some of us have been there seen it done t shirts and books.. And when 5 infantry brigade where at Brecon playing war games befor being sent off to the Falklands. even way back in April 1982, I had a a poprtable TV, Radio cassette player with stereo speakers plumbed in my motor. At around 1pm the war games stopped and a crowd appeared to listen to the BBC news on TV. And after dark, those unseen dodgy dark force's would tap on the window with tasty treats for the driver (me). Jump in and listen to the bbc radio news so every one was uptodate with what was happening 8000 miles away.

Now since them days, Ive upgraded to a hatcher bunk (old style) in my modified sprinter, sat tv on a 10" screen also have simlar tv with freeview dvd player. 12v Kettle, and gas sttove. And If I can prize it out of Mr. G im going to get me one on them there mini microwaves.. Now just cos they run on batteries doesnt mean you can plug it directly into your ciggy socket. And i still have my7 foot long army sleeping bag, But I prefer a quilt and night heater these days.

As for you Speedy

My dog has every thing a man desires.

Big Hairy chest, Hairy arms, Fearless, Big feet, A huge dewberry dangly . Thats definatley not my kinda girl.
