Posted a job on here last night, pays £1plm for one pallet 500kgs (not a fortune but not bad ) a guy off here messages me and accepts via text, sent him all details for 1030 collection, at 1030 calls him to see how it's going, he says alright mate and then cuts me off! Ringing Him back and he won't answer, then he texts me to say its not worth him doing it as there is not enough in it for him. Thanks for letting me know MATE.

Luckily enough I had a guy doing another job and he can collect later as it is a pm delivery. How do some of these people survive?

No wonder some people don't trust subbies they give us all a bad name.

Yes it's unbelievable really, I'm quite gob smacked.

Outrageous and something that should get the member chucked off the site

If it were me I'd insist on it.

Can they be named and shamed on the site so everyone is aware of who to avoid.

There are some great ODs out there that don't deserve to be tarred with the same brush.

Not rocket science, he posted the job last night and all i can see is one bidder, unless it was sold over the phone.

In my opinion he deserves to be TARRED AND FEATHERED, I just don't understand the mentality, he could at least of lied like saying his van blew up or something but to not even tell me he was not going is unbelievable really.

Long Services

Certainly don't belong on here or any other exchange site.

No, not directly like that on the forum. However LwsExpress can leave feedback about him and you can check the feedback he has left.

We'll be in touch with LwsExpress directly.

Yes I posted and he sent me a text straight away, after about 4 texts of me asking him questions I then sent him all the collection and invoice details.

Why ask that?

I think Gas it trying to identify the member without asking names.

I don't think so :-) If he wants to know then a simple text is suffice as others have done.

Martin Services

That is staggeringly cr*p, un-businesslike and simply inconsiderate behaviour. I would be in favour of naming and shaming if he continues to disappoint in future.

Classic example Les of having to rely on someone you don't know.

No excuses, it's not like your trying to get it done on the cheap!

Been there too Les, that's why we took on another driver and only use [if possible] those on my own list of preferred subbies.

Luckily, it wasn't a morning delivery as things like that happening can well and truly screw up your relationship with your customer! Glad you sorted it.

Hope your out of that M6 tragedy now too?

Thanks Alan I'm home safe and sound unlike 5 or 6 either dead or seriously injured, just looking at his texts now I should have realised when he said, quote, just got your job post from mtvan when does it need moving and what's the size? Then he sys, I can provide you with a regular service at unbeatable prices! Offers me to cover it @ 95pplm and I give him £1plm, kept all his texts so if he denies it to Tim I will just forward his texts. As you say Alan luckily DHLs customer asked for an afternoon delivery.

I'd already worked it, and there was 2 that applied and both are newcomers judging by there profile, the reason I ask is if you did post it I didnt receive a tx / email to the post thats all, as a while ago you were on about finding drivers? But it doesnt matter as your sorted now.

So no my question may not have been relavant or significant.

Glad you got sorted in the end Les, THIS is what makes vendors think twice about posting work on exchange sites. Hence why we have increased the fleet with 3 xlwb sprinters this year to accommodate our customer requirements. Less work being contracted out, more kept in house, bigger profit margins.

Having said that, the regular guys we use are still utilised.

How do you contact the regular guys? Call or text? Do you ring round many before getting someone to take the job?

Ironically Mr HSP that's how it used to be but I never thought it would turn a full circle again!

Contact the regular guys by text and by calling them, if they are available for the work then give them the job straight away with full details of collection OR just tell them where its collecting from as they know the customer and procedure etc already.

Prices and such are very rarely discussed over the phone with these guys as we know their rates, they know our payment terms and it works well for us all. All we expect is to be kept in the loop in regards to the job, paperwork in with invoice and in return they can expect to be paid quickly / on time. Works well for both parties concerned.

Agreed Mr Barnsley, its good know this practice is not dead in the water just yet. Too many around nowdays who will call 5 different subbies to get prices and then allocate based on price.

If everyone took the time to speak to subbies, get to know them, treat them like your own - there would be no need to ring one after the other.

Respect - works both ways
