... to use customers logo's on your webby's?

a rival courier to me has been kicked out of a shared customer because they used the companies logo without asking, the company is a media company and very protective of their brand.

I know a few others?

I think the very minimum you need is to ask their permission.

Some logos are copyrighted and I would imagine without having asked, most would quite rightly be extremely vexed.

It would follow that using a customers logo on your van without permission could also land you in trouble, by association they could be implicated in things they may well have nothing to do with.

Not surprised that company was kicked out

You should always ask, and tbh being ignorant of the legalities is no excuse

You may well be proud of who you work for, but they may not want others to know you bail them outa the shit

I agree and...

Some logos are copyrighted

Any logo or anything else an individual or company designs/creates is copyrighted.

Just a thought Mr Admin. Why not issue all Pro members with MTVAN logos so we can all wave to esch other on the motorways? It'd give you some advertising too.

I have looked into this, but couldn't find anything that quite fit what I was after.

If you/I can find someone to do a good quality custom sticker at a reasonable size and cost and importantly offers some kind of drop shipping arrangement where I can get one automatically sent out to a member who upgrades I will add it.

[name]. I've used Vista Print quite often. Their quality is very good. I don't think they'd do automatic drop shipments though. They do ordinary stickers and also signs on magnetic sheets. You can send them your own logo design and they print your design. I think you'd have to do an "opinion poll" first, though and get members' opinions. (That should be interesting!)

Bit off topic again. This was about putting customer's logos on websites without permission!

As for putting a sticker of any courier work or backload site on your vehicle I am puzzled as to why you would, or would want to.

I dont think its completely off topic I did see a luton in Tamworth services with" I was loaded by courier exchange on the back"! Totally poinless advertising as everybody who reads it would not know what it is all about. It has to be the most pointless advert I have seen

Not long after I started I remember sending a letter out to potential customers introducing ourselves, as we had a few big name companies using us and part of the letter was something like "trusted by xxxx to deliver"

My only competitor at the time got hold of one of the letters and passed them on to companies mentioned.

One of them wasn't too happy, and I was summoned in for a meeting, and in the end we lost the work, and our competitor took over.

At the time I was incredibly annoyed, but I'm a great believer in karma.

As a big customer it was 90 days for payment, 5 days after we received the last cheque they went into administration, so he did me a favour as I would never have survived the loss :)

Mr Preston do you believe all in all this karma stuff really? It was a massive stroke of luck! You started to scare me now giving examples of things coming aback to bite!

I don't think I have done anything wrong to anybody but I don't think I did too much right either and its too late to start now

So are you saying you were right in the first place?

You made an error of judgement and it was picked up upon

No, I realise I was wrong and should have asked permission first.

My annoyance was with my competitor for grassing me up for his own benefit, the karma comment was in relation to him.

At least you hadn't put logos on your website!

On a similar note, I can't understand why a subbie would have their own van decked with another Company [City Spr*** etc] Signage.

If someone paid me Thousands of pounds, that's a different story!

I think on the web site thing that some might take a subbie job that was a delivery say to a 'Blue Chip' company, then falsely believe that they are the partner of them, and can display their Logos. Even though it was probably a one off job and nothing really to do with them!

There have been plenty of Courier Companies in the past that expected nay demanded that their logos should be on vans AND that the courier should also pay to wear THEIR uniforms, and many still do.

How these drivers can still be sub-contractors has been a grey area for years
