I just added a job to the board, and low and behold received a call, this chap says he could do it for xxx amount of pounds (didnt tell him what he really would have received), Had a look at his profile and he hasnt any GIT, so mentioned this and he said he's insured through another courier company?

Anyway did mention that my GIT would cover him, but the fact is, has he any proper Insurance? So back to the point, after allocating the job to him and giving collection details as he is 13 mins away, he then tells me and I quote " Sorry got another Job I cannot do it ".. Luckily for me its allocated and will leave feedback and no I wouldnt recommend him after that stunt. Ive since reposted the Job..

Just shows why this industry needs to be cleaned up.

Rule 1 when you have commited yourself to a job then you stick to it, it's that simple.

I strongly believe that when a job is allocated, it should be honoured. Unfortunately, there are some that don't understand the meaning of professionalism and commitment. It causes unnecessary inconvenience and is time wasting - people like this I wouldn't bother with again.

Admin please sort this out.. I allocated a job earlier and left feedback but it has not been added and Why not?

I wondered why i received the text twice i assumed that the server was up to its old tricks again.

Pity the feedback system doesnt allow your profile to show who you have left negative for.

That would certainly keep drivers on their toes and think twice about their actions

Assuming there was no time delay between him quoting and you agreeing to it, once a job is allocated and confirmed that is that. For me, anyone chucking a job back after that should be chucked off the site.

There may well be times that you could kick yourself for taking on a job and another, better one comes along soon after, but thats just the way it is.

Rob... The guy phoned me up and after a few minutes of general discussion, I allocated the job to him when he was on the phone, after giving him collection details and agreed to do it, he then gave the excuse of another job has come in and apologised that he cannot know do it.. which left me Gob Struck..

Mr G.. It did come up twice, as I put it on the job board after it was allocated and then left in the S**T so didnt miss out again..

But shall remove it as its now covered by an ex mbr of mtvan aka Enson Express off shed5..

I think you summed it up with title unprofessional! I would never dream of pulling a trick like that!

I would love to name him, but then that would make me look unprofessional, but more than happy to give vendors the details if Pm'd so you can avoid.

What worries me is that he stated he didnt have GIT and another courier company covered him after I checked his profile, so in affect he was using another companies GIT to cover him, even though mine covers any driver/vehicle acting on my behalf. And if this is the case is he running around on normal insurance as well? even though there was no time to check, this subject does keep coming up about the standard of industry..

Dont worry lads as I will be back in the frame on or about the 22nd so any problems you come up against I'm sure I will try to help you out, dead miles might be a problem though but I do have all the correct insurances in situ. :-)

I had a driver abandon a collection because his sat nav stopped working, rather than use his initiative, he just gave up and went home, told us he wasn't prepared to do the job without it!

When i was a courier driver, I never even used a sat nav, they were considered a luxury back then!

As Speed has said many times there need to be more regulation within the industry, perhaps here would be a good place to start.

Tony I did... But he'd just took a job on 2 minutes before I rung him, anyway he got his partner to collect before 6 as he was upin hereford somewhere, so now he has it in his possession ready for the off to London..

Andy Policy Fast through coversure.. and yes sat navs were not heard of in the early days, In fact I have a big pile of A toZ's and OS books covering most counties..

Every time I visited a new place, I would buy a street map from a local garage, my dashboard was stuffed full of them. I still rely on the big roadmap book for planning long routes on the move, I just can't get a good overview from a tiny sat nav screen and I like to plot my own way there, rather than putting blind faith in the sat nav.

Thats where shed5 come into its own, if I upset admin well that's tough. Ok you may not get as many jobs advertised but alot behind the scenes, But you do get a better quality courier who is definately vetted by Mr [name], I would advise anyone who isnt a mbr and whom classes themselves suppliers of a quality service to join..

Andy your going off topic...

Robinson Express

175643

Lol, not the first time I have been accused of that.

Anyway, I do agree that once you take a job on, you should not abandon it simply because you have had a better offer, sat nav stopped working, job details didn't arrive (just get on the phone and ask) or whatever the reason. Think about the long game, anyone who wants regular work, needs to build a reliable reputation.

Andy always goes off topic, cos thats wot Andy is all about...

I kinda liken him to that bird from the Wile E. Coyote cartoon... Me me.. Lol

What are these old tricks? I'm not aware of any problem with an alerts. If it was a text about the quote, did he make 2 quotes or submit twice?

Your feedback will appear once the window for leaving feedback closes or he also leaves feedback (doubt he will, let me know).

I have replied to your PM, but just to be clear to other members: Your feedback that you leave will appear when the other party leaves feedback OR if they do not leave feedback it will appear when their window to do so expires (I'd have to double check but off the top of my head it's a matter of months).

I suspect that seeing as he says his GIT is covered by another company, he is a regular subbie for that company and as such, has to make himself available during the day for whatever jobs they ask him to do. He probably thought he has time to fit your job in but then they called him. It's exactly the situation I'm in but I certainly wouldn't try to take jobs off here knowing I could get called to do something else at any moment.

I think 3 months is along time to wait for feedback to be published when expires.
