1383Seems acceptable to me.
10314In my opinion 25k cover is what you need, no higher thats for sure
It really isn't worth the paper its written on to be honest cos you'll note when you read it, that it covers next to nothing that we all carry, doesn't cover anything when you're not in the van, even while fueling up, covers nothing overnight.
I've been in this game 15 years or so and have never had a claim.
All it does do is tell me you're more trustworthy than someone who doesn't have it

That makes sense as when he was giving me the quote he told me that if i leave the van and I don't lock it I am not covered. So I guess its something you need that you never use lol
290Try Cornish Insurance, much cheaper than what you've been quoted
10314Put it this way, if you're in your van, the back doors are locked and someone uses a tin opener and gets your package out of the van while you're driving along, then you'll be happy you got the cover.
If this happens without you noticing then you really do have a problem
For everyother eventuality you won't be covered
3617Coversure are very good, and cover you whilst taking a pish in the services.. And they cover the value of the goods and not weight like some.
3440You can't put a price on say a tender that somebody has spent weeks preparing, like speed said a lot of the stuff we carry is not covered by git, ok we have to have it, but I don't know what would happen if you had to make a claim on it, has anybody on here ever claimed on it, how did it go, I do think £ 280 is a bit steep.
2848My friend who has an artic, had about 12 pallets of high value Pharmaceuticals stolen from his lorry. He was threatened with a pick axe to stay in his cab, whilst a gang slashed his curtains and rifled the load. This was on a Derbyshire Industrial estate.
Thankfully his GIT paid compensation to the customer and new curtains for his truck.
Can't say I know anyone who has claimed successfully for loss in a van.
I do know of many being 'robbed' in Belgium, Italy and Spain though!
[Be careful if taking a nap in Motorway service areas]

I agree there are some things that you cannot put a price on, some insurance companies cover the weight to the value of, while only a few companies actually cover the value of such as coversure and fresh Insurance, most wont cover if your away from the van/bike even of locked, but as we all know whats the chances of something being stolen.. I also think the likely hood of an unmarked vehicle being broken into for the contents are of course a lot lower compaired to a marked vehicle, unless your stupid enough to display the contents.. The 2 above mentioned Insurance companies are quite cheap, I paid just under £100 for 10k, I will be going back to coversure as they promised last year to beat Fresh and offered it to me last July for £75 for 10k, so will hold em to that..
3440Which branch coversue do you use, I have used ilkston for about 5 years and I find them very helpful and friendly
2250Coversure for me too
454I paid £175.00for £10k cover with Aviva, think I may have paid too much.

When I call it seems to be the Birmingham office, they are very helpful, I also ha
3617Im currently insured with Fresh Insurance, as they beat coversure / policy fast last year to which again I paid £95 for 10k, the guy I dealt with is [name] [name] (Irish chap and very helpfull) the only down side to fresh is they charge £15 everytime you want to change vehicles whether permanent or after the 2 week period and they are not fast on sending the new documents, whereas Coversure are the opposite.. My renewal is up soon and will be going back to coversure.. The office I deal with is in Rubery Birmingham, but its all done over the phone..

You don't HAVE to have it... G. I. T. Is not a legal requirement.
3617It isnt a legal requirement, but Ive had many a customer ask If I have it and can they see it due to the nature of goods thats being transported. So I cant be without it.. And wont use anyone who hasnt got it either.
2821Mine is £10K for £150 both bike & van
Most GIT have an excess, some as large as £250, so in the event of a theft, the question that many never ask is
Whose gonna meet the cost of the excess?
The Customer, subber or subbie?
1737Mine is £260 for 25k with Giles insurance. Thinking about the comments above it seems that the insurance company won't pay out anyway so what's the point of paying more than the minimum git available ?
Definition of an insurance company:- "They sell you an umbrella but the minute it starts raining they take it off you"
1049It's the same old story with no claims... Was told by [name] at cornish when i enquired about it that it wasn't worth paying the extra for as if you had a claim they would load up your next premium anyway

The excess would be the responsibility of the person who was in charge of the goods whether subbie as self employed or Employer covering his employee (but the employer may have some clause so the employee is responsible). As for the customer, they have already paid for the service and any additional costs to cover the insurance as some charge extra for this, they would be exempt so they wouldnt stand for it. But as TBH this aint gonna happen..
2821You cant offer insurance unless you are registered with the FSA I believe DHL & Royal Mail being the only two logistics companies that are
3617Just been on the phone to coversure..
They have quoted me for GIT £10,000.. £89.50 xs250 And PL 1 Million.. £62.01 or 2 million £80.50 .. both have xs's of 250, this size xs get rid of the small claims.

I think thats the best way to do it increase the xs and bring down the overall cost.

Agreed on that, but whats the chances of something going missing in our possession.... Combined Git with 2 million PL is £170, or Git with 1 mill @ £151.51.. It pays to shop around, and dont forget to tell them you had a cheaper quote elsewhere, my current Insurer hasn't given a renewal quote yet so they could be cheaper still ;)

Could be cheaper what do you think the chances of that are, my insurance are trying to increase my policy by 25% yet i haven't made a claim for anything so will be doing a bit of shopping around.
1018Try Cornish (and I don't mean pasties this time). £20k GIT and £2m PL 205 all in

Yes, I think it seems not bad... As well as Policyfast is delighted to declared that now people can carry more goods during their transport and also includes livestock Carrier rate. You can refer below link before making decision about it :[link]

If you take insurance with Moorhouse, check the policy for spelling mistakes, mine contained 4 when I, took a policy out with them, that's a good price though.
