I have just got a BP fuel card but i'm getting plenty of calls from other fuel card companies saying theirs are better! Which ones do you think are the best ones to have?

10314I think they all fluctuate from being the cheapest one day, to not the next. its a minefield, and i'm not convinced about the saving, i've tried a couple in the past but it felt like they were just offsetting their charges somewhere else.

584Don't tell him that ... you'll get the poor sod a criminal record.
Harding Direct
2148You can only use red if your a scrap metal dealer!!
We use 2 BP cards and a shell card, they all give us a price that day, and we use whoever is cheapest.

10314Ok ok....DO NOT use red diesel...or if you do, make sure you have a false tube that goes into the tank with real diesel lol
Thompson Direct
1863theres only 2 fuel cards to have fuel genie (morrisons/tescos) and deisel price guarantee 106.3 this week
Taylor Logistics
2848That's ok [name], but those cards are mainly Supermarket sites!
Can be a pain in the butt, having to go off motorways / route etc to find them!
also I am not convinced that supermarket fuel is the real deal. Premium fuel [BP Ultimate & Shell Advance] certainly does what it says on tin! shame they are so expensive though
Thompson Direct
1863Deisel price guarantee also do an esso card on the same account and if you use it at the services (ie has to have fast fuel) you save 2p per litre. Also do a keyfuels card too good network.
Harding Direct
2148Anorak alert!!
I have found that if I use super market fuel I get 100 miles less out of a tank so using it is a false economy, 3p per litre less but 100 less miles.
[name] i have the same account with the diesel guarentee card. Theirs is a uk fuel and yes at some you need to use the hgv lane as the pumps are different.
Thompson Direct
1863my curtainsider supermarket fuel 390miles on a tank on bp super duper fuel 390 miles on a tank
I've just got meself a fastfuels card, fantastic network, solid fixed Marshall. Going okay so far.

231£130.9 per litre on my BP fuel card this week.
SMH I've just got a Diesel Price Guarantee card. I got fed up with people ringing me up offering me fuel cards so I eventually caved! Seems pretty decent to me. I always use it at Esso when I can as they usually give me 2p per litre off.
Davison Direct
482The DPG card is fine, although beware of Bunker & Non-Bunker sites. For some reason my local Shell is a NON-Bunker site so the card doesn't work there, but that's 1 site. Generally very good.
ive been doing the 50p a litre off at Tescos, well stocked up with coffee & bog roll lol !

238how much does it cost to have a fuel card these days?

5I have been looking into cards and wondering which one to get. Any recommendations?
Long Services
10314well judging from the number of bleeding phone calls i get from these lot, i reckon you'd need at least 20 for it to work. It wouldn't surprise me if they're cheaper for a week then try and rip you off. But maybe i'm being too cynical
Connor Logistics
5Its been racking my brains all day! I have decided to trial the card that works at UK Fuels, Shell, BP, Esso, Morrisons & Texaco.
It seemed like the best option. It was the best price when I rang rang aswell.
I was talking to him about this website and he said he could link accounts together as sort of a "Whole Sale Usage Policy" he said. Apparantly the more you buy the more competitive they can be and he could link us all together.
Don't know if anyone would be interested in giving this a whirl? I'll let you know how it goes first!
Long Services
10314He would say that, he'd get access to a load of new commission from all of us lot....very nice for him, not sure the same could be said for us
Connor Logistics
5Just a quick one..
The guy who I signed up with the fuelcards called me yesterday. I sent him a list of a few business names on here so he could call you and offer you this. He said when he has called a few they don't know who I am!
He said a few people have signed up though which is good...
So if you get a call from the guy and he says [business] recommended them.. Its me!!
Thompson Direct
1863"and you can't use your 5p off a litre voucher with it either"
yes you can, but the main reason we like to use DPG is the £900 + vouchers at xmas the cashier hates us lol
Long Services
10314Fuelcards are a con....this guy was so illiterate even if it was legit would i really want to do biz with him?
They entice you in with supposed cheaper fuel, but in the end you'll end up paying more
Just ask yourself, how can they offer fuel cheaper than the supplier?....it's a rip off
Hopkins Direct
1701I agree with you speed, i used to have a fuel card when i was an empoyee the only advantage we found was not having to have a company credit card for every driver and all your fuel purchases were in one place.
Long Services
10314and if that's all they offer then it would at least make your admin easier, but i suggest you're actually paying more after about 2 weeks of having one
Harding Direct
2148We have found the amount of time saved in admin/VAT time, better quality of fuel and the lack of risk of my company card getting cloned is more than enough compensation for buying fuel this way. We save around £1000 per year on pump prices the fuel price this week is £1.38pl inc vat which is not far off super market shit fuel.
So a rip off is a little strong!
Long Services
10314Ok, how about misleading then?
Connor Logistics
5Well we will see when I receive mine! I still haven't sat down and had a look how to work this website not got a clue! lol

10314How can you recommend something before you know whether its ok?
Also giving our names out willy nilly ain't really on either is it... I'll put this down to be naive this time...next time i may really start chucking out a few toys tho..lol

1863[business] what do you speed per year on fuel roughly? this has a lot to do with what sort of price you can get it for
Thompson Direct
1863speed = spend (rolleyes)
Hi SMH - I thought that might be the case. I have only been with them a month or so. I spend around 800 quid a month. Have to keep an eye on their rates as the latest is 0.01p cheaper than the pump price at my local garage :)

3179I always hear people say supermarket fuel isn't as good as BP/SHELL ETc.
Why is it then i regularly see Esso & Texaco trucks filling up the tanks at tesco and asda.
Fuel is fuel and it is processed at the same refinery.

2848disagree with supermarket fuel being good.
You get what you pay for and vans run better on premium fuel. There is little cost saving by the extra mileage you might achieve but colleagues who have scrimped using supermarket fuel seem to have had mopre trouble with EGR valves etc.
I have on occasion used supermarket fuel if it is convenient and I can't easily get to another site,
Also every 10k or so use a premium diesel treatment like Forte. not cheap but superb stuff!
Thompson Direct
1863super market v super fuel like ive said before curtainside transit does around 380 miles on a tank not matter what fuel is in it thats good enough proof to me :-)
Taylor Logistics
2848EGR valve replaced yet? ;)
As an ex sidecar racer [name], would have thought good fuel a priority, even in a workhorse of a van?

1863[name] its about ££££ in the pocket, 276k 1 egr valve
as for the old sidecar it had the best petrol and adatives (spelling) due to doing 2 races and needing to go as fast as possible :-) petrol has an higher octane which (i think) diesel doesnt have, high octane means bigger cleaner bang which in turn makes you go faster :-D
Thompson Direct
186360 reg tranny super market fuel 105k had it from new no egr valve, 61 reg tranny euro 5 " " had from new 46k no egr valve, 57 reg curtainsider tranny same fuel had from 1yr old 276k 1 egr valve, 11 reg renault trafic sport from new 45k on the clock all is fine, 57 reg fiat doble had from 1 yr old same fuel 145k no probs , 57 reg nissan navara had from 18months old same fuel no prbs ,

Taylor Logistics
2848[name] LOL good old Renault Master . You know the troubles I had with my auto one :(
I know what you mean about Petrol, the 2 strokes we raced [and still do] run on Avgas. BUT poor quality fuel always has been a no no. Like [name] says, we all do shed loads of miles and it is very quick and easy to suss it out for oneself!
I have, and definitely the vans all run better on Shell Advance, BP Ultimate. A few more miles mpg [not alot] but overall worth the extra! I know a few on the 'other forums' swear by premium fuels so give it a try.
I though would only use supermarket fuel if nothing else close by

I have a Fuel Genie but only ever use the Tesco Express Esso sites, that way you get branded fuel at Supermarket prices and the full month credit that comes with the FG card. I agree that the normal supermarket fuel is not the deal, I did a trial last year where I ran for a month on it then a month using my BP+ card (supplied by [business].. Very good outfit). The mileage return was superior using the BP stuff. There is an App available from Tesco that helps you find the Tesco Esso sites, then you can just add them to your Google maps as favourites or your SaNav

So if you get more miles out of the vehicle than you can then speed up a little and deliver faster.
