10314Are you wanting multi drop more than one off A to B deliveries then?<div>If you want to work for Same day Couriers then there's a directory on here</div>
Douglas & Sons
25600I can't see any contact telephone number or address. People are wary of companies that only provide untraceable 08 numbers and no physical address.
Long Services
10314I don't know what you're looking at....Courier Directories.....select a postcode or town and it lists all couriers in "miles from" with phone numbers and addresses
Website Admin
5839I think 3D is referring to 3T's website.<br>
Brown Services
238Hiya, yeah there are no contact numbers as yet as the site is still being updated, the main reason i didnt go with land line is if im out all day i wont be home to answer it,lol<div><br></div><div>all emails go to my mobile so im contactable throughout the day wherever i am.</div><div><br></div><div>types of work im after, all work,lol</div><div><br></div><div>ill do multi drop if i have to althoug from reading up its the lowest earner but good way to get in with other compaines, the A-B work pays more but is harder to find, maybe im wrong tbut thats why im here looking for advice.</div>
Long Services
10314If i were you i'd use the landline but divert it to your mobile<div>Landlines just look more professional for me....mobile tells me you're a one man band so don't have the availability...landline tells me you've got an office, so have plenty of drivers</div>
Brown Services
238the only prob with diverting my land line is that all calls get diverted, meaning ill get calls from everyone and their dogs whilst trying to work.<div><br></div><div>but its an option.</div><div><br></div><div>there is an email contact address if they prefer that but the mobile may need to be put with something like " A mobile number is provided so no matter where our office staff are they can respond to your call quickly and efficiently, giving you a faster, cleaner service."</div><div><br></div><div>Too much gumf maybe, i havent decided yet,lol</div><div><br></div>
Website Admin
5839Add a 'Web Booking' option on your top menu and use our customer booking system. That ought to mop up a lot of the phone calls you'd normally get and allow you to get back to people in your own time.<br>
Hewitt Logistics
3179All of our landlines are diverted to the control mobile after office hours.<br>The only problem we get is the stupid PPI claim back companies and general crap sales calls.<br>The cost us around £20 a month even though we registered on the telephone preference service.<br>We also get silly ebay calls at 11pm looking for quotes. I know we are 24 hours but they can be annoying.<br>
Brown Services
238yeah thats why i dont really want to get calls diverted as ill get all the calls i dont want getting in the way of the calls i do want.<div><br></div><div>ill look into ways of maybe buying a free number like an 0800 i think you can buy those and have them put anywhere, then ill get it diverted to mobile. i hope,lol</div>
Hewitt Logistics
3179I wouldn't have an 0800 number<br>You will end up with a hefty bill for all your incoming calls on top of the diverted ones.<br>we have a free 0844 number but have never used it.<br><br>
Hewitt Logistics
3179The o844 number simply piggy backs on a normal landline number where o800 is you paying for all incoming calls.<br>
Brown Services
238thats all good to know, as for the online bookings bit admin, it says my domain not able to do this.<div><br></div><div>oh well they will have to be happy with emailing me or ringing the mobile.lol</div>
Website Admin
5839Do you have a link to the page where you've pasted the code for the booking system?
May Express
636It doesn't state anywhere what van(s) you have? Most business customers will have an idea of what they need and will want to see on your website whether you can supply it or not.<br><br>The rates are low for a compact van but if they're your prices for a Sprinter then I need to get out of this game!<br>
Brown Services
238this is my browser address for the page im trying to put it on<div><br></div><div>[link] </div>
Brown Services
238no wait that doesnt work, lol if you click that link but then go to the contact details page i tried to put it on there
Website Admin
5839That doesn't work for me, the page you're trying to link to only works because you're signed in.<div><br></div><div>I suspect the customer booking didn't want to work because whatever you were testing it on was not on your domain name. It HAS to be added on your domain name (i.e. www.3tdelivery.co.uk).</div><div><br></div><div>Once you publish your change and you view it on the live site I think it'll work.</div>
Brown Services
238yep your right, logged out and viewed page it works but they have to register here for it to work, that may put people off as they not sure what they registering for.
Brown Services
238i other thing, it says my membership runs out today although i thought this was a free site and you took a bit from every job i did, not sure if im right there or there is an actual membership just to access forums and stuff.<div><br></div><div><br></div>
Website Admin
5839<b>No they do not have to register here at all</b>. Customers have to provide their contact details when they provide booking details for a quote (obviously, else how would you get back to them). It has been carefully designed to put customers off as little as possible. At no point do they 'see' mtvan.<br><br>I expect we offered you some free PRO membership. Most of this website is free, but you must pay if you want to quote for work/see who our vendors are. It's all clearly explained around the site... [link]<br><br>If you want to discuss this further, please start a new topic as it's completely off topic. Also, there's a thread about the customer booking screen.<br>
Website Admin
5839Just had a look and I can see it working on your site. I suggest you give it a little more width if you can.<br>
Long Services
10314I still think diverting your landline is best, despite the wasted calls, we have a bt mobile where diverts are free....and tbh not many shite sales calls.....if you tell em to f off once that usually stops em....and if they're ringing from bootle it'll be a scam...lol
Brown Services
238have done, i gave it a whole page,lol
mtvan.com Ltd
2185Looks really professional.<div><br></div><div>[link]</div>
Andrews Services
1833See you've removed your mileage rate from your website ? Booking page looks good though, if internet bookings is your market.<br>
Long Services
10314Internet bookings are the future, like it or not, whether its thru emails or directly thru your website...personally i hate it cos you can get a job you know nothing about sittin there on your control screen lookin at you as if you're stupid...<div>Most still want to talk to a human being....but it WILL change....how many of you have kids who talk to eachother online or by text even when they're sittin next to eacother!!!!</div>
Website Admin
5839Would you prefer a txt to your phone alerting you to the new web booking then [name]?
Brown Services
238yep removed my per mile rate as i decided that i do not want to put anyone off contacting me if they think the advertised rate is to high, if they make an equiry at least i get to communicate with the customer and hopefully they will understand then why i charge what i charge.<div><br></div><div>i may put the prices back up when i'm definite as to how much i need to earn to cover costs, i spent all day with my chin on the floor after ringing insurance companies today,lol</div><div><br></div><div>i find it amazing that my golf gti can be £300 full comp a year when a van no bigger than a car can be £1500 a year.</div><div><br></div><div>these rip of insurance companies are bad.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
Brown Services
238i agree with [name], internet bookings are the future as everything is done online these days anyway, only problem with online booking is they are booking a job on your site possibly thinking they are booking it with you when it may actually be someone else, this could impact your company if they get bad service.<div><br></div><div><br></div><div>ill leave it for now but may not keep it there full time as this worries me a little.</div>
Brown Services
238hang on that might be wrong,lol<div><br></div><div>does it only appear on the persons dashboard they booked it with or can anyone on mtvan bid?</div>
Website Admin
5839The customer booking system is just for you individually! When the customer enters their contact details they're only visible to you. When they make a booking it appears on your unallocated page only! It does not make a booking that is open to bids! If you want to open it for bids you can, but that's your choice.
Brown Services
238ok then its all good,lol
<p>Hi there,</p><p>Just seen your scenario with the landline. I know I'm a bit late on it now but thought i would pass on what i have done with my business. We use VOIP phones for our business as there is so much flexibility in what you can do with them. You can divert them anywhere you want when you want and you have complete control over them. The best bit about them is that you dont have to deal with any big uselss companies. All you need to have this service is a good broadband connectiona and an actual VOIP phone. You can pick these up for about £30 which is a bargain really considering the adavntages they can have to your business. There is a good company out there that i could recommend as well that provide an excellent service and have UK (English Speaking) customer service centre if you have any problems. There website is www.voipfone.co.uk .</p><p>Hope this helps you.</p>
Brown Services
238thanks [name], im kinda going along the lines of an 0844 number as they only cost 5 pounds to set up, ill look into voip though.
mtvan.com Ltd
2185Personally I now really resent companies that have 0844/0870 numbers, as they aren't included in my mobile tariff, so calling just a few of them in a month can double my phone bill.<br><br>I can't be alone in that?<br>
<p>This company does have the 0844 numbers as i have one myself this is only £2 + vat per month. They have the whole range of numbers if you do want them.</p><p>Hope this helps</p>
[name] every phone number has a geographic origin. If you have a smartphone then get the appropriate apps for whichever number you want to call. They do work as i use them all the time.
mtvan.com Ltd
2185Yes, my point was, doesn't offering an 0844 or similar make some people think that calling it will cost them at least a quid, so no thanks?<br><br>
Website Admin
5839Although I know you can find out the geographic number of an 0844 number, when I'm being a consumer I'm far far more likely to press back and try the next guy with a proper number than go looking for an alternative to the 0844 one.<br>
