Where are the big forum contributors hiding? SPEED? COURIER EXPERT? CITY CONNECT? O21? MK?SEXI? NOTTS and DERBY? Reading the forum saves me buying a paper... At the moment nothing is happening here so i might have to invest in a tabloid instead

Maybe they got fed up with someone who never stopped posting his superior opinions and the 'he' likes the sound of his own voice, or printed words in this case!

I've been very busy with our new Retail Sameday project, which hasn't left much time at all to come on here. In any case, I usually end up on here to respond to something someone else has said, but as they usual suspects have gone quiet, there hasn't been any need :)

Long Services

Its cos no ones saying anything to reply to and thankfully "he" has been too busy to wind anyone up

Oh yes I forgot 'The Expert' must see himself as a 'BIG Hitter'

Seriously though I am sick of the Cra* on here, hence why I choose not to bother with it anymore!

Still seems to be plenty of people participating, even if Courier Expert is busy.

The reason there are no big hitters on this site is because of the lack of response to jobs posted if drivers want this site to succeed then they need to start calling and quoting on jobs.

He's talking about forum 'big hitters', not anything about posting jobs. I agree with your point about calling and quoting though.

Haven't logged in to read the forums for quite a while now, (or it seems anyway) - same thing usually on here so stopped following the forums for this very reason stated above.

Courier Exchange chat pages full of problems, mtvan chat pages - self promotion!

Now what is left to read in spare time, without getting annoyed!

What's the point?

Yesterday I had to drive from Elgin to Colchester to rejoin my wee boaty that works the Thames Estuary and usually take the car but I decided to take the van instead and blow the cobwebs out. I received notification of a job from Glasgow (abt 70 mile away) to an NN postcode so I thought it's not far off route so quoted a rather low price for it as I was already getting paid for the run, I never got the job so whoever did must have been prepared to pay the vendor if his price was much lower than mine. To cap it all there was another en route from Manchester to Colchester posted later which would have mated up nicely. But I might as well whistle in the wind in the hope of getting any decent paying jobs, (other than me wee boaty one).

I have a suspicion some jobs just don't exsist, I was heading up to Glasgow with a days leeway, saw a job which would have fitted in nicely, I gave a quote that reflected this, heard not a sausage back.

More likely they wait for the cheapest quote often accepting others then saying the job is cancelled, been stitched up myself a few times with one of Scotland's finest (could be said he partners the Lone Ranger )

The jobs we post are booked jobs... Not quotes... We pay.... within reason, whatever the cost is to get the job done.

Same here, jobs posted on mtvan are already booked and paid for. We don't tend to use mtvan to gather quotations for a customer.

I quote I actually gave was almost a test as I didn't need the co load (I'd already charged appropriately on the way up) I was interested to see if it was taken up upon, frankly I couldn't see how you'd refuse that price for a 350 mile job.

It wasn't your job however the last time I quoted on one of your jobs it was in the thousands at about £126.80 per loaded mile the minimum at which I'd work for someone like you

The job (allegedly) I quoted on 352 miles, price £150!(equates to 42.6pplm) No response, so anyone who did that job for less was ripped off by an 'expert' IMHO.

Oliver & Sons

They were both yours, and I thought I was doing you a favour by quoting (but would have suited me just fine as well) but it's about time I came back to earth and realised I'm banging my head against a brick wall if I expect ever to break even or ever hope to earn a living out of my wee van and should stay at driving boats an ships which I've done for long enough. At least here the job is regulated by a competent body and the remuneration is in keeping with your qualifications and hands on experience.

One of the controllers made a decision on that one and I do not know why the cheapest option wasn't chosen, however I'm not that surprised, as there is not a huge difference and price is not the only consideration. I would say that some one else was probably closer to the pick up point.
