As I understand it, anyone can join as a non Pro and they aren't vetted at all.

This unfortunately means that the odd charlatan can appear for a while before being spotted. Generally they ARE spotted cos they either start ranting at someone as soon as they join, or shoot themselves in the foot by blatantly not being aware of the rules. Not much you can do about it really unless we have moderators on 24/7

It's true of an open forum, which is what MTvan seem to want, so this downside seems to be one they are prepared to put up with.

Thankfully most don't damage anything but there own reputation

Hey [name],

Anyone can join and that is good. After all, everyone has to start somewhere.

I personally have no issue with new members, pro or not, being able to contribute to the forum.

My worry is that I have just noticed that one recent "new member" who is not a courier or even someone who wishes to be a courier offering their "support service". This situation is difficult to prevent since MTVan runs an open forum (and long may that continue).

However, the idea that the same individual can pay for and receive advertising from Mtvan without Mtvan checking the company out is absolutely beyond me.

Then we also have one or two who have no intention of upsetting others but manage it anyway through their own inability to either string a sentence together or use a spellchecker. :-)

As you have rightly pointed out though, such people only do harm to their own reputation.
