Have you tried or considered multidrop work in your area for someone like tnt or dhl.

Not huge payers but could be a way into being a sameday driver for your area.
Just  a thought as when we used to work for tnt we used to drive from nottingham daily to cover their work when the lincoln depot had no other drivers.

That's the problem , Your location I personally would look more towards grimsby as it is a little more industrious.  What about a chiller van for moving fish etc and the frozen food manufacturers?

I'm just trying to think of the businesses i would approach, Also there's a car storage compond or two near there What about a trailer to deliver cars?

It's the unfortunate name of the game .

even we have many bad days usually topped off by bad slow paying customers.

We get on average 5 letters a day 3 phone calls all looking for work and we always call people

nearest the job as and when they occur.

We still have your details in the file

I hope you get what you want for your van

Hi Mark, have you considered the possibility that the age of your van prevents you from getting work. Most courier companies will not risk their reputation on a courier with a van that is so old. Too great a risk of breakdown.

i can assure you mate that it wont break down its like brand new i see more new vans at the side of the road than the older ones

That may be so, but courier companies will just see '7 years old, 105000 miles'.

Out of interest what age/mileage vans are others running?

Age and mileage isn't always restrictive as you think.

Obviously a D reg escort isn't going to be running around on a NHS contract but i have seen some absolute sheds around london , Signwritten up for courier companies.
We have a couple of subbies in 2005 vans but they in immaculate condition and highly maintained.
On the other hand we had one subby with a 2007 vw crafter who serviced it every 35k or when it felt sluggish. We had to not use him due to the possibility of breakdowns.

Most of our vans  are 2009 or newer and we try to upgrage our oldest every year.

And to be fair if we have to use one of our subbies most do have late model vans.

Nothing wrong with an older well turned out and well maintained van.

One of ours is an 04 plate Renault Master LWB with 380000 miles on it, it is getting better on fuel every year.

A recent trip from Yorkshire to Kings Lynn returned over 40mpg but normally runs at around 33 mpg going out each morning loaded up to 3500 kgs.

The newest Renault master we have has a Euro 5 engine and rarely gets better than 30 mpg doing similar work. It may get better when it is fully run in (currently 13 months old with 85000 miles on it).
