751Nice people who argue with each other for banter and sometimes not for such nice reasons. The place is run for professional people only but that can be to the detriment of the people who are fresh into this game. Its £25 to join and its at that point you get to meet the real members. These members can and will pass on work on a subby basis and as a feather in a cap its great. However there is stipulation to join and maintain this presence and this can be intimidating plus if you dont operate in a clear and concise manner your reputation will die an unholy death in a very short time. Work posted there is sporadic ( when isnt it regardless of where you are ) and most work never gets posted but passed onto each other once acquaintances have been made so although it can be days before a job gets posted raising your head above the parfait can be work alot to you . Also if you have an existing customer having friends found at a place such as this to be able to take on your workload in the event of a holiday or sickness is invaluable . I would heartily recommend the place but take small steps at first before getting into the cliques.

676They check everybody properly - you don't just fill in a form to say you've got all the insurances, you have to send in a copy and that is checked, not just ticked off a list.
They also look out for phoenix companies, the ones who have shut down owing drivers, then started up again with a new name.

3440I use a friends password and its not that good believe me.

1701Oh especially in here... Lol... Its like the courier mafia sometimes. And shed5 is good for all the reasons [name] points out above, and when more jobs get posted will be even better.

538I thought it had gone up to £100.00 to join. Been thinking of it myself but would like to find out more first.

Nope, probably thinking of somewhere else. Other things of note are to join the owner wants to see your courier insurance, public liability and GIT otherwise you simply cant get in. This sorts out the sincerity of most drivers straight away. Once you have paid your in however it must be noted if you dont long in at least once a month your membership is now gone and you must pay again plus provide paperwork etc etc. In the event some of your paperwork goes out of date you will be asked to show a renewal and if you cant your out. Certain sites are not allowed to be mentioned but this is found elsewhere anyway. Courier expert + courier exchange being the main courses of concern. Also you may need to work out what the yellow site is to have half a clue of what people are referring too. Closest thing you will find to the place and there lots of member crossovers is COD [link]

He did put price up to £100 for a few weeks but then put it back down to the £25.00.

3617For those of you thinking about it, just do it, its £25 for life as long as you log in once a month just to keep your account active, you will get your £25 back in work alone once your known.
As stated all insurances are checked, so vendors have piece of mind that they have been checked, & like any type club you have to keep to the rules which includes annual Insurance checks as part of the T+C's.
Ive been a mbr for a few yrs and had no problem, Ive made some good business contacts with networking, it can be rewarding with a bit of networking, I cannot speak for everyone but the earning potential is good even when I started out. And yes the price did go up after a poll, only because the majority of mbrs voted on what they thought was the best joining fee, but the owner decided to keep it as is..
Or you could look at it like this, adding Shed5 to your arsenal of exchanges will definately give you more of an earning potential through networking and piece of mind to the vendor.
This was taken from the site, and says it all really:
Quality not quantity
Shed 5 is not the kind of site where you will see hundreds of loads advertised — most members prefer to allocate work direct to other members without advertising it. And you will find it easy to use the site's networking tools to introduce yourself and get to know other members.
Just being a member of Shed 5 means you have been through our careful registration process and your insurances have been checked — and even members of other exchange sites know that a Shed 5 member can be trusted.

Remind me not to sub any jobs to you - presumably you use a mate's password because you're too tight to pay the £25 joining fee? Is cost also the reason you don't have GIT insurance? Do you have the same security attitude towards any other vendor's customers - do you card them?

293No, it's because he's on the naughty boy list that I was on at one point too.
