I had a phone call from cx today stating they got a call from someone on this. Apparently someone told them i was asking about haggling there price. They have given me a price but i'm still not sure if its for me. Can someone give me advice. Ive seen the threads on here but i was starting a new thread in case the other thread was outdated.

That's more than your van is worth.

IF the site is used properly, you would most probably earn that outlay back within the first month and continue to take ad hoc work from there to turn a profit.

Like ALL exchange sites, you only get out what you put in. The volume of work is much higher but then so is your competition, compared to mt van.

Use the site as a top up on EXISTING work, and not RELY on it as a source of income, like any exchange.

I know several people who make a good living just from subbing to companies on the Courier Exchange, BUT this has taken them years to build up their connections, and earn a reputable name for themselves.

In short - if you want subbie work then yes its 100% worth it, BUT bear in mind like anything in life, if you want something work hard for it - same applies here - work hard networking, building relationships etc.

End of the day the last call is yours, it all depends on your current situation, eg - do you have any of your own customers, do you rely on exchange site work? - thise are the questions to ask yourself

Ive only been trading about 2 months now. A lot of my work is subby based. I do have some of my own customers but like you say it can take years to gain a good reputaion. I am doing a lot of networking and it has paid off in some respects. It could always be better tho

The package they have offered you seems pretty reasonable for 12 months. Is it worth it? In my opinion yes it is. It depends how you use it though. I have not been on there that long myself and already have some very good contacts all over the country. If you are good at what you do it doesnt take long for companies to see this and start calling you before they even post the job elsewhere.

Maybe they had an exchange "going that way" and it was back load membership?

I get the distinct feeling that this sort of variance in price annoys most people the reason I try to accurately work my prices out

In my 'humble' opinion lol, I would join as many networks as possible. Whatever the fees, it is much much less expensive than trying to find your own customers and a whole lot less time consuming. I think it's a no brainer.

Sounds like you could haggle with them a lot further though :o)

I agree, if you can afford it, you should be on Courier Exchange and mtvan.

You will definitely get your money back BUT more importantly you will be part of the biggest network of like minded couriers, with access to the experienced and the knowledgeable for free too

I think it would be useful for other "newbies" if you shared your experiences.

There is a lot of cynacism about not to mention having to avoid the scammers, so I think to hear how someone new to the industry is getting on can only be a good thing for those struggling or unsure whether to go for it.

I thought that when i saw there prices online, im going to be cheeky and haggle them even more. They reckon there standard package is just over £700, but thats not the price advertised on there website.

£483 inc vat would be better in todays market.
