I GIVE UP!!

Another demand in the post for £135 from Westminster city council.

Apparently A CCTV operator filmed me Not driving in the direction of a blue sign on 19/10. under section 32 I presume i was filmed accidently turning into a one way street? But who knows what i did wrong

This comes on top of the recent £130 from hackney council for being filmed in a bus lane,.

As a midland based driver i get the occasional job into London and Drive as i would in any provincial city. I don't deliberately drive in bus lanes or drive down one way streets nor take the mickey on yellow or red lines . If i have strayed then that is due to taking notice of my Sat Nav and the additional pressures that driving around the city's roads provide ,which happens by accident

It seems that London has rules that drivers from outside are completely oblivious to until the letter drops in your box. Unfortunately it has taken up until now to send the demand (to which they have now added an additional £65) making a total of £195 to pay because of failure to pay within 7 days.. arghhhhhh

How do we appeal against this robbery? Has anyone challenged them ? Have you similar stories ?

The best way is put false plates on when driving into London, when you get out take them off again, it called ripping off the working person.

I dont't know how many times I tell people APPEAL! And continuing appealling

I always challenge them and since doing so havent paid on, Mmmmm I might right a bible on it.

Give them a call we had this a couple of weeks ago, Again they reckon they sent the first notice which we didn't receive and I managed to get it down to £65.00, which is enough but better than going through all the hassle of attending a tribunal etc

Appeal, appeal, appeal, then appeal again if necessary.

I have only once received one fine from TFL, and as it happens a friend of mine works in croydon office, he told me exactly what to put (which I did anyway as it was exactly how it happened) and if its rejected then appeal, soyes I appealed, but this time it states if you lose this appeal you pay treble and thats it, or pay £65 now and leave, so I took the £65 option... I had good ground for appeal, like 1st time in the Shitty, to much going on to look where your going, no signage etc etc.. this was on a bike.. but its only happened the once and thats enough..

TFL is not the same as Westminster City Council.

They all try scare tactics, to make you pay the smaller amount, but if you appeal all that goes on hold anyway. Pay nothing, appeal straight away, and if it don't work you pay the original, lesser amount.

No mine was for Wilton road A202.. And it came from TFL croydon..

Im sorry have I missed the point here. If you go up the wrong way on a one way street or in a bus lane and you get caught it doesnt really matter where you are from does it? Or are you allowed to go up the wrong way in the Midlands. Yes appeal the parking fines, but not going in to one way streets cos mr sat nav says so.

We've all made mistakes, and we've all flouted the law to some degree when out and about, whether its being parked on a double yellow for 5 mins, doing 40 in a 30 or whatever.

The difference nowadays, and particularly when driving in london, is you will get caught more often than not and why?

Cos there are literally thousands of cameras watching your every move

In the old days if you saw a warden you moved on, a police car, you slowed down, in a bus lane, you got out, inadvertantly took a wrong turn into a one way street, you turned round and got on your merry little way.

No longer sirs, no longer

We can all make excuses, but ignorance has never been one of them, so keep yer eyes peeled and read the signs, slow down and don't let the urgency of your delivery make you switch off

London is, and always will be, the Rip Off capital of the World

The point is: You dont know the area, 1st time in, Your on a bike, trying not to get killed watching other traffic, having eyes in every direction, not seeing the poorley signage, diversions all over the place, the sat nav taking you on a route that has been turned into a bus lane that motorcycles can use (or so I thought).

Just to point out nobody was going the wrong way up a one way street

TFL or the council cant fine you for going the wrong way up a one way street anyway

Sorry thats not true Since 2009 TFL HAS been able to enforce this and a number of other offences that used to come under the jurisdiction of the met police

Wilton Road in Victoria (Gas M/C) is in fact the same road as Mr G got caught on in the Bus lane and also a subbie of mine got caught on, it is a very difficult junction as it has only been a bus lane in the last 2 years, new sat nav's still take you round there (well mine does) and CIBT the visa place happens to be smack bang in the middle of the bus lane (TIP theres another door to the same building on Vauxhall Bridge rd

You beat me to it mate... Thats exactly where i parked and the cabbies on other side suggested i go back the way i came rather than go forward into the"lions den"

Luckily we bikeys dont have a parkin problem, but we have to watch for other morons trying to kill us, not just vans, cars, taxis, lorries and buses but pedestrians as well... As Tony stated its a nightmare on wilton rd / vauxhall bridge rd for traffic and sat navs, mine is updated regularly and a garmin zumo..
