Well i for one, will be very sad if Little Chef is allowed to be "swallowed up" by Costa or similar.

We all like a bit of nostalgia, especially in times of austerity, and I was brought up on visits to Little Chef when I was a kid, and also with my own kids whenever we trundled up and down the A1 or wherever.

It seems that the use of a knife and fork is deemed out of date doesn't it?

I recently found a Wimpy in Sudbury, and I thought it was great being served up a burger and chips with a knife and fork, not to mention the round tomato shaped ketchup dispenser.

Progress isn't always a good thing, in fact the older I get, the more i wonder what progress is really for

I agree, I miss the days of Wolverhampton Truck Stop £6 for your dinner and a shower.

Very sad?

Well I find it sad when anything good disappears, and ok we may have moved on but Little Chef in its day was brilliant. Motorways had plastic food on a self service basis owned by the aptly named Rank, while the A roads had little chef, where you sat down and used cutlery (for those of a certain age "cutlery" was a name for impliments used to get food from a plate to your mouth) So progress is a self service maceedoos, using horsemeat and chips that have such a long list of ingredients i'm surprised there's any room for potatoes, and whose rubbish now clutters all our highways and byways (see previous thread by RLT)

Life, as they say, is a tall cool glass of F**K YOU... lol

I like using Little Chef because it's one of the very few eateries that ask for your money only after you've eaten. I like the feeling of being trusted not to do a runner. That type of establishment is rare these days.

Because it's naughty. And anyone caught doing one deserves to be dragged back inside by their ear, thrown over the waitress's knee, and spanked ... very hard.
