Courier Insurance

For those too stupid or ignorant to know otherwise, getting Goods In Transit cover does not mean you have courier insurance, contrary to what misleading info you may or may not have read elsewhere.

From a recruiting website that shall remain nameless

"Need Courier Insurance? Get automatic approval of your GIT policy by arranging a policy with our preferred insurers. Call for a quote right now"

Fine if you need Goods in transit, but it's suggesting (by not telling the reader otherwise) that getting GIT cover is all you need.

Get pulled over without proper courier insurance, or have an accident, and your insurance WILL be null and void

Perhaps what it should say is:-

"You will need to arrange your own Courier Insurance, but we can help with your Goods In Transit cover"

Now I don't know if this is deliberate, to hide the fact that being a courier does mean an outlay of quite a few quid before you can actually call yourself a courier, or whether it's just an oversite, but it certainly suggests that all you need is GIT, so intentional or not, it needs changing.

I suspect the former, because the need for couriers is higher than the legality of them, and much harder to recruit if they have to fork out £1500-£2500 first!

Ignorance is noo excuse in the eyes of the law

This insurance issue is getting out of hand. Mr Speed please calm down. Can I suggest we start lobbying our local MP for regulation in our industry. I am only suggesting an idea because it seems we are going around in circles. All MPs have surgeries that anyone can attend. Lets get the ball rolling.

I'm calm, takes a lot more than. Something need to be done you're right. Usually we have to wait for something bad to happen before anything gets looked at. So until some dickhead mows down an innocent bystander, expect all of the above and more to be completely ignored.

I kind of thought that going around in circles is what we do for a living.
