One of my mate did some job for a up an coming Logistics company, however, they have missed paying him the job he did, and has been chasing them up for about 3-4weeks now. He is also very new in the job and now weighing the options on what to do to get his hard earned money back. Any good advice pls. May be time to begin naming and shaming companies that behave this way.

What date did your mate do the job? When did he think he should have been paid?

Most companies are 30 days so i'd say it ain't due yet

or should i say only just due....i don't get why he's been chasing them up for 3-4 weeks if that's when you say the job was done....does this "mate" know what he's doing?

Well sorry for the lack of clarity initially....the company policy say work done in the week is paid the next tuesday. So payment is made every Tuesday.

He has the feeling that the controller at the office is trying to milk him for his greed bonus at the end of the year.

Well i'd say your "mate" might have got his wires crossed. Very rare to be paid weekly.

Careful please.

I think your mate should simply call the company and politely ask when he can expect payment.

A lot of people never pay ontime, they might be waiting for money to come in before they can pay, themselves, subbies etc, it not uncommon not to get paid ontime, phone up and ask but don't get wound up, if they say they will pay in another 4 weeks, then so be it, I have waited months to get paid, it's not ideal but sometimes its life.

Did he look or ask there payment terms before he took the job on? most companies pay on 30 days some 45 day end of month and some 60 days, or if you get caught out and work for some well known frausters they never pay up!!
