My question is how long do you wait for a reply, from a bid? On Courier Exchange they say gave them 15 mins, is it the same here?

175643Many of our jobs are booked with 2-3 hours notice, so it is not always the case that a job is allocated after 15 minutes.
However, at least half of them need immediate action, so it is best to apply quickly if you are available.

3617I find that if you call or txt you will normally get an answer there and then. But have a look in the comments box to see what instructions there are.

175643We prefer bids though mtvan/text/email for the following reasons:
- It is guaranteed to be seen by a controller, and quickly.
- It creates a written record of your bid and when you made it.
- It's clear which job you are bidding for.
I am not keen on scribbled messages taken over the phone and prefer a paperless office, 'post it' notes have a poor record of making it to the controllers desk quickly. Email works every time.

261I am not sure how it works on here with jobs that are loading either later that night for example or early next day for a long job,but I find on Courier Exchange when you bid on one of these sometimes the vendor will hold out for as long as possible for obvious reasons which can be a bit frustrating as you are not sure if you are in with a shout, or not sure if to take something else. Most sameday jobs I will normally get an answer within 5 to 10 minutes if successful.

1825When I put jobs on Courier Exchange I always wait for 5-10 mins, Not for price but for best collection times and so I can check their feedback. But if you haven't had a call back within 15 minutes I would say you were unsuccessful

290Bids are for auctions, quotes are for customers (end users or trade, both are customers).
Why would anybody wait from point of giving a quote for any period of time? As soon as you are off the phone, get on and quote for something else. First job you get a quote accepted for gets your wheels turning.
If you waited 15 minutes for every quote you'd never get any work.

Because they are desperate and need a load back to make up for doing the outward for peanuts!
I am afraid this so called 'Sameday' lark is saturated with drivers who would have more success plaiting sawdust than being a successful businessman!

I think it should be quickly but maximum half an hour for reply from a bid.
