Does anyone know about adblue and how much a vw crafter van should hold? Ive put about 17 L into the tank and the light on the dash is still on? Does anyone know how to get this light off or is it a trip to the v dub garage

I've seen it a lot of garages but always next to the HGV pumps, so I presumed it was only for HGV vehicles

Just googled it, there is a lot of info about the crafter.

Adblue is a an emission reduction additive used for buses lorries etc NOT vans. They have custom made separate injection systems and filling tanks because it is corrosive to certain copper and aluminium alloys. If I were you IMM I'd phone VW and ask their advice before you f#@k up your engine, fuel tank, pipelines etc.

Adblue has specified on many larger engines in recent years as a means of keeping within emission regulations and it's use is making it's way down the scale :-

I always put diesel into my fuel tank ... it seems to work okay

IMM must have one of the newest versions of the Crafter, the ones with a higher payload due to the non-provision of a spare wheel and jack, and their replacement with a can of filler.

Crafters had AdBlue for a couple of model years 2009-2010 (from memory) to see out the ageing 2.5litre five cylinder motor (that was carried over from the previous LT range) through the next round of emissions.

The new facelifted model 2011 onwards has the new VAG 2 litre motor which is clean enough to not need AdBlue for the present build but as the next round of restrictions comes in then I imagine it will need to be reintroduced.

Capacity IIRC approx 7 gallons/30 litres

Warning lamp should reset after two or three cycles stop/start or turn ignition onto first position 30 seconds and turn off - again IIRC

How much methanol should you put in a Iveco? ;)

The new Sprinter has AdBlue now too - and from the auto trader review, it actually returns 38mpg which is pretty impressive.

hi guys , yeah mine is the 2.5 crafter its a 2010, but i tock her to the local vw garage and they filled it for free and gave me 60L of the stuff to fill in the future, i found out that theres a completely diffrent tank for the adblue so no need to worrie about filling the fuel tank by mistake! But thanks for the replys Karl - IMM
